OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study is to assess the prevalence of abnormal CT findings in patients with surgically proven ruptured endometriotic cysts, as compared with those abnormal CT findings of ruptured ovarian functional cysts. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study included 13 retrospectively identified patients with surgically confirmed ruptured ovarian endometriotic cysts and who had also...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The posterior circulation Acute Stroke Prognosis Early CT Score (pc-ASPECTS) quantifies the extent of early ischemic changes in the posterior circulation with a 10-point grading system. We hypothesized that pc-ASPECTS applied to CT angiography source images predicts functional outcome of patients in the Basilar Artery International Cooperation Study (BASICS). METHODS BA...

BACKGROUND To identify predictors of changes in functional hepatic volumes after portal vein embolization (PVE) before hepatectomy, we examined the relationship between hepatic functional parameters and changes in functional volume of the embolized and non-embolized liver based on a previous volumetric analysis. MATERIAL AND METHODS Subjects were 24 patients who underwent PVE, which was perfo...

We describe a case of new-onset heart failure in a patient in whom cardiac CT enabled the non-invasive diagnosis of isolated non-compaction and associated functional abnormalities of the left ventricle with the concomitant evaluation of coronary arteries. This case highlights the utility of cardiac CT for the morphological and functional evaluation of the heart as a single imaging modality.

Objective(s): 68Ga-DOTATATE positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) has shown promising results in imaging of neural crest tumors (NCT). Herein, we compared the performance of 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT and 131I-MIBG single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/CT in the initial diagnosis, staging and follow-up of pa...

Despite extensive research in the field of aging neuroscience, it still remains unclear whether age related cortical changes can be detected in different functional networks of younger adults and whether these networks respond identically to healthy aging. We collected high-resolution brain anatomical data from 56 young healthy adults (mean age = 30.8 ± 8.1 years, 29 males). We performed whole ...

We present a variational approach for segmenting bone structures in Computed Tomography (CT) images. We introduce a novel functional on the space of image segmentations, and subsequently minimize this functional through a gradient descent partial differential equation. The functional we propose provides a measure of similarity of the intensity characteristics of the bone and tissue regions thro...

The recent introduction of combined positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) scanners is having a far-reaching effect on the field of medical imaging by bringing functional imaging to the forefront in radiology, oncology and other specialties. The PET/CT scanner is an evolution in technology combining two well-developed imaging modalities: anatomical imaging with CT and funct...

Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) could show the morphological status of coronary stenosis. Moreover, (CT) myocardial perfusion (CTP) provide additional information to identify hypoattenuating areas that might complement limitation CCTA in terms evaluating functional status, adding diagnostic performance CCTA. We reported imaging features artery disease a female patient with histo...

Accurate localization of areas of increased metabolic activity on PET only imaging can be challenging. Fusion of PET with CT imaging provides anatomic detail which aids in localization of functional information. As a result, the overall sensitivity and specificity of information provided by PET or CT alone is improved with combined PET/CT resulting in improved diagnosis and patient management. ...
