Nowadays, there are plenty of sources generating massive amounts of text data streams in a continuous way. For example, the increasing popularity and the active use of social networks result in voluminous and fastflowing text data streams containing a large amount of user-generated data about almost any topic around the world. However, the observation and tracking of the ongoing evolution of to...

—We examined the effects of low-head dams on aquatic biota, habitat, and water quality in a 171-km reach of a midwestern warmwater river that was fragmented by 15 dams into a series of free-flowing and impounded habitats. Dams impounded 55% of the river’s surface area within the study reach and influenced distributions of 30 species of fish by restricting upstream movements. Values for the Illi...

The distinction between a “stream” and “river” is imprecise vague despite the popular usage of terms across disciplines for describing flowing waterbodies. Based on an analysis named waterbodies in continental United States, we suggest bank-to-bank channel width 15 m as working threshold defining smaller “streams” from larger “rivers.”

Plastic encapsulated microcircuits with aluminum triple track structures were exposed to mixed flowing gas conditions to simulate and accelerate possible environments during long-term storage. No increase in resistance was measured and no corrosion products were observed after 800 h of accelerated exposure. Further experimentation indicated that chloride gas reacts with surface moisture in micr...

Online mining changes over data streams has been recognized to be an important task in data mining. Mining changes over data streams is both compelling and challenging. In this paper, we propose a new, single-pass algorithm, called MFC-append (Mining Frequency Changes of append-only data streams), for discovering the frequent frequency-changed items, vibrated frequency changed items, and stable...

Method and apparatus for manipulating and monitoring analyte flowing in fluid streams. A giant magnetoresistive sensor has an array of sensing elements that produce electrical output signals which vary in dependence on changes in the magnetic field proximate the sensing elements. The analyte is included in a stream, such that the stream has a magnetic property which is dependent on the concentr...

We show by simulating the execution of SPEC 95 benchmarks on a true hardware–level, cycle by cycle simulator for a superscalar CPU that about half of the bytes of operands flowing on the datapath, particularly the leading bytes, are all zeros. Furthermore, a significant number of the bits within the non–zero part of the data flowing on the various paths within the processor do not change from t...

This paper describes an algorithm, called Dynamic Window-Constrained Scheduling (DWCS), designed to meet the service constraints on packets from multiple, network-bound media streams with different performance objectives. Using only two attributes, a deadline and a loss-tolerance per packet stream, DWCS: (1) can limit the number of late packets over finite numbers of consecutive packets in loss...

undoubtedly, the twentieth century can be regarded as one of the richest periods of the history of philosophy and thought which globalized this tradition, generally, because of the spread of mass media and even the published books, and joined all vast and narrow streams, here and there, together and at their juncture a big sea is formed which is the most important gain of the century. one of th...

Intermittent headwater streams serve important functions for humans and wildlife in semi-arid rangelands. Increases in ashe juniper coverage in central Texas over recent decades are believed to have negatively impacted stream flows. Few studies have examined relationships between aquatic species and environmental factors in these systems as well as the influence of juniper coverage on assemblag...
