It is well known that, generically, one-dimensional interacting fermions cannot be described in terms of a Fermi liquid. Instead, they present a different phenomenology, that of a Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid: the Landau quasiparticles are ill defined, and the fermion occupation number is continuous at the Fermi energy. We demonstrate that suitable fine tuning of the interaction between fermions c...

We discuss the low-temperature behavior of the electronic self-energy in the vicinity of a ferromagnetic instability in two dimensions within the twoparticle self-consistent approximation, functional renormalization group and Ward-identity approaches. Although the long-range magnetic order is absent at T > 0, the self-energy has a non-Fermi liquid form at low energies |ω| . ∆0 near the Fermi le...

We present a detailed theoretical study of light scattering off superfluid trapped Fermi gas of atoms at zero temperature. We apply Nambu-Gorkov formalism of superconductivity to calculate the response function of superfluid gas due to stimulated light scattering taking into account the final state interactions. The polarization of light has been shown to play a significant role in response of ...

Many organic metals display exotic properties such as superconductivity, spin-charge separation and so on and have been described as quasi-one-dimensional Luttinger liquids. However, a genuine Fermi liquid behaviour with quasiparticles and Fermi surfaces have not been reported to date for any organic metal. Here, we report the experimental Fermi surface and band structure of an organic metal (B...

Within the Hartree-Fock approximation the ground state of the composite fermion metal is found. We observe that the single-particle energy spectrum is dominated by the logarithmic interaction exchange term which leads to an infinite jump of the singleparticle energy at the Fermi momentum. It is shown that the Hartree-Fock result brings no corrections to the RPA Fermi velocity.

The stability of the one-mode nonlinear solutions of the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam beta system is numerically investigated. No external perturbation is considered for the one-mode exact analytical solutions, the only perturbation being that introduced by computational errors in the numerical integration of motion equations. The threshold energy for the excitation of the other normal modes and the dynami...

We propose a graphene-based full valley- and spin-polarization device based on strained graphene with Rashba spin orbit coupling and magnetic barrier. The underlying mechanism is the coexistence of the valley and single spin band gaps in a certain Fermi energy. By aligning the Fermi energy in the valley and single spin band gaps, remarkable valley- and spin-polarization currents can be accessed.

In graphene, as in most metals, electron-electron interactions renormalize the properties of electrons but leave them behaving like noninteracting quasiparticles. Many measurements probe the renormalized properties of electrons right at the Fermi energy. Uniquely for graphene, the accessibility of the electrons at the surface offers the opportunity to use scanned probe techniques to examine the...

We study the ac-conductivity in linear response theory for the Anderson tight-binding model. We define the electrical acconductivity and calculate the linear-response current at zero temperature for arbitrary Fermi energy. In particular, the Fermi energy may lie in a spectral region where extended states are believed to exist.

Recent inelastic-neutron-scattering measurements of a low-energy phonon in Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8 provide enough information to place a lower bound on the energy gap magnitude at precise locations on the Fermi surface. Measurements of a few low-energy phonons should indicate whether the gap symmetry is d x 2 −y 2. Further measurements could map out the angle-resolved gap magnitude on the entire F...
