Eid al Adha during CCHF transmission season poses a threat of exposing large population to this viral haemorrhagic fever. CCHF was first reported in Crimea in 1944. Oral ribavirin and general supportive therapy is the mainstay of treating CCHF case. Eid al Adha is a unique epidemiological event which shifts the risk of CCHF infection from high risk population to general population. During Eid, ...

The Belgian Electronic Identity Card enables Belgian citizens to prove their identity digitally and to sign electronic documents. At the end of 2009, every Belgian citizen older than 12 years will have such an eID card. In the future, usage of the eID card may be mandatory. However, irresponsible use of the card may cause harm to individuals. Currently, there exist some privacy and security pro...

Electronic Identities (eID) and their cross-border recognition are on top of the agenda of various e-Government initiatives of the European Commission (EC). Therefore, the EC launched the EU large scale pilot STORK, which was running for about 3.5 years and finished at the end of 2011. In this period, STORK has established a European eID interoperability platform for citizens. The focus of STOR...

Ecological interface design (EID) is proving to be a promising approach to the design of interfaces for complex dynamic systems. Although the principles of EID and examples of its effective use are widely available, few readily available examples exist of how the individual displays that constitute an ecological interface are developed. This paper presents the semantic mapping process within EI...

Five persons in France were infected with Orf virus after skin wounds were exposed to infected sheep tissues during Eid al-Adha, the Muslim Feast of Sacrifice. Infections were confirmed by electron microscopy, PCR, and sequence analysis. Prevention and control of this underdiagnosed disease can be achieved by educating physicians, slaughterhouse workers, and persons participating in Eid al-Adha.

BACKGROUND The Nse1, Nse3 and Nse4 proteins form a tight sub-complex of the large SMC5-6 protein complex. hNSE3/MAGEG1, the mammalian ortholog of Nse3, is the founding member of the MAGE (melanoma-associated antigen) protein family and the Nse4 kleisin subunit is related to the EID (E1A-like inhibitor of differentiation) family of proteins. We have recently shown that human MAGE proteins can in...

Investigation of exon-intron gene structures is a non-trivial task due to enormous expansions of the eukaryotic genomes, great variety of gene forms, and the imperfectness in sequence data. A number of available informational systems on various gene characteristics complement each other and are indispensable for many genomic studies. Among them, the Exon-Intron Database (EID) is a good choice f...

Previous studies have shown adaptive cruise control (ACC) can compromise driving safety when drivers do not understand how the ACC functions, suggesting that drivers need to be informed about the capabilities of this technology. This study applies ecological interface design (EID) to create a visual representation of ACC behavior, which is intended to promote appropriate reliance and support ef...

Peak brachial artery dilation post-nitroglycerin (NTG) administration occurs between 3 and 5 min in adults. The purpose of this study was to identify the time to peak dilation response to sublingual NTG (0·3 mg) in youth. Endothelium-independent dilation (EID) was measured in 198 healthy (113 males, 85 females) youth (6-18 years) via ultrasound imaging of the brachial artery following NTG admin...

Pathogenic microorganisms and viruses are components of ecosystems. They have constructed endemic interrelationships with specific host species throughout the history coevolution The spillover pathogens from natural habitats into other areas causes encounters between new hosts that never evolved immunity or resistance. result is a rapid spread “Emerging Infectious Disease” (EID). During acceler...
