A new antibiotic, victomycin, is active against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and also has in vivo activity against solid Sarcoma 180 and Ehrlich ascites carcinoma. It belongs to the phleomycin-bleomycin group of antibiotics and has been differentiated from all known phleomycins and bleomycins by its physicochemical properties and thin-layer chromatograms.
A new diterpene antitumor antibiotic, myrocin C, has been isolated from the culture filtrate of a soil fungus, Myrothecium verrucaria strain No. 55. The antibiotic was effective against Gram-positive bacteria, fungi and yeasts, and prolonged the life span of mice bearing Ehrlich ascites carcinoma.
Antitumor activity of the adduct between Carboplatin and alpha-cyclodextrin has been tested against Sarcoma 180 (S(180)) and Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) murine tumors.
