PURPOSE Despite recommendations for 99mTc-tetrofosmin dual tracer imaging for hyperparathyroidism in current guidelines, no report was published on dual-isotope 99mTc-tetrofosmin and 123I sodium iodide single-photon-emission-computed-tomography (SPECT). We evaluated diagnostic accuracy and the impact of preoperative SPECT on the surgical procedures and disease outcomes. METHODS Analysis of 70...
BACKGROUND Gait impairment is common in parkinsonian syndromes but not specific to striatonigral dysfunction. The relationship between the dopaminergic system and gait parameters is poorly understood. This cross-sectional study aimed to determine if gait measures are related to the striatal dopamine transporters distribution using [(123)I]FP-CIT SPECT in patients with parkinsonian syndromes. ...
Objectives: To explore the diagnostic value of 99mTc-Sestamibi multiple-phase static planar imaging and SPECT/CT in secondary hyperparathyroidism. Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of 40 cases of clinically diagnosed secondary hyperparathyroidism with multiple-phase static planar imaging, 15 min SPECT/CT fusion imaging, and ultrasonography. All cases were confirmed by pathological exam...
We report a facile synthesis of bifunctional Fe3O4-Ag(125)I heterodimers for use as dual-modality imaging agents in magnetic resonance (MR) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). We introduced (125)I, which is a clinically used radioisotope, as a SPECT reporter, into Fe3O4-Ag heterodimer nanoparticles to provide a new type of bifunctional contrast agent for MRI and SPECT imaging.
Quantitative SPECT as well as simultaneous acquisition of multiple isotopes with SPECT in the clinical field, although clinically interesting, are still limited by reconstruction artifacts and computing power. As a considerable step in this direction, we have implemented an efficient reconstructor with variance reduced Monte-Carlo-simulation in the forward and/or backward projection of an OS-EM...
A new dual MRI/SPECT pH-responsive agent where the SPECT active moiety acts as reporter of the concentration making it possible to exploit the responsiveness of the MRI probe.
INTRODUCTION Tumour-associated urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) is a critical marker of invasion and metastasis, and it is recognised as having strong prognostic relevance as well as being a therapeutic target. The specific uPA inhibitor plasminogen activator inhibitor type-2 (PAI-2, SerpinB2) specifically targets cell bound uPA and is internalised. Furthermore, preclinical studies have es...
Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a cerebrovascular disorder involving stenosis of brain vessels. Brain perfusion SPECT in MMD demonstrates impaired perfusion in ischemic areas. We present a 6-year-old boy with MMD. The patient had numbness on the right arm and simultaneous electroencephalography changes while studying arms up on the table. To differentiate seizure and ischemic symptoms, brain perfusio...
University of Illinois, USA We will report the design and performance of a MR-compatible SPECT system that utilizes a dual-FOV aperture design for microscopic SPECT imaging of small animals inside an pre-existing MR scanner. The MRC-SPECT-DF system consists of a full ring of high resolution CdTe detectors and an aperture that consists of dual-FOV aperture system design that has two sets of aper...
Nanomedicine, the medical application of nanotechnology, is poised to make a major impact on the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. It is a relatively new branch of science that involves harnessing the unique properties of particles that are nanometers in scale (nanoparticles) for both diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Nanoparticles (NPs) can be engineered with precise sizes, shap...
