Artifacts formed by methylation of chenodeoxycholic acid with diazomethane are identical to the synthetic 3alpha- and 7 alpha-monomethyl ethers of methyl chenodeoxycholate. The extent of formation of these artifacts with time has been studied. No detectable artifacts were found with 2,2-dimethoxypropane as the methylating agent.

RAISTRICK & SMITH [1936] showed that a strain of Aspergillu8 terreus Thomr, when grown on Czapek-Dox solution containing glucose as sole source of carbon and KCI as sole source of chlorine, produced two new metabolic products, geodin,. C15H605C12(0CH3)2, and erdin, C15H706C12(OCH3), each of which on catalytic reduction gave rise to a dihydro-derivative. Later, Clutterbuck et al. [1937] found th...

In this paper we describe new multi-catalysis cascade (MCC) reactions for the one-pot synthesis of highly functionalized non-symmetrical malonates. These metal-free reactions are either five-step (olefination/hydrogenation/alkylation/ketenization/esterification) or six-step (olefination/hydrogenation/alkylation/ketenization/esterification/alkylation), and employ aldehydes/ketones, Meldrum's aci...

-Infrared spectroscopic, X-ray powder diffraction, diffuse reflectance, and electron-spin resonance examination of homoionic bentonite from Sardinia treated with diazomethane indicates that polymethylene was formed in the interlayer position. Polymerization can be attributed to the acidic properties of the residual water in the interlamellar space, depending on the nature of the exchanged ion. ...
