We present a rare case of corneal ulcer caused by a species of a coelomycetes fungus, Chaetomium strumarium. This fungal genus is a rare causative agent of keratomycosis, with only a handful of cases reported. The clinical presentation, investigative techniques, and preliminary management of our patient are reported. The cases reported in global literature are also summarized in a tabular form ...

Zhang et al suggested that in the crystal structure of a polycomb repressive complex 2 from Chaetomium thermophilum (ctPRC2), a flexible linker region, but not the H3K27M cancer mutant peptide, better fits the electron density. Based on our new data, we agree with this alternative interpretation and provide the crystal structure of ctPRC2 bound to a bona fide H3K27M sequence.

Structural determination of the nuclear pore complex has been limited by the complexity and size of this cellular megalith. By taking advantage of exceptionally stable nucleoporins from the thermophilic fungus Chaetomium thermophilum, Amlacher et al. (2011) provide new insight into a core element of the nuclear pore scaffold.

conclusions the present study confirms the notion of selecting endophytic fungi of medicinal plant justicia for the bioassay-guided isolation of its bioactive compounds, and demonstrates that endophytic fungus chaetomium sp. nf15 could be a potential source of bioactive metabolites materials and methods endophytic fungi associated with the j. adhatoda l. plant were isolated from healthy plant p...

Jiao and Liu (Research Articles, 16 October 2015, aac4383) reported the crystal structure of the protein complex polycomb repressive complex 2 from Chaetomium thermophilum This landmark structure has brought invaluable insights into the activation mechanism of this essential methyltransferase. However, the analysis of the x-ray data discussed below suggests that the description of oncogenic H3K...

BACKGROUND Many exopolysaccharides from the endophytes in medicinal plants possess various potential bioactivities. MATERIALS AND METHODS The endophytic fungus JY25 was isolated from the leave of the Chinese medicinal plant Gynostemma pentaphylla and identified as Chaetomium sp. by its phylogenetic and physiological analysis. One exopolysaccharide (EPS) fraction was isolated from the fermenta...

A screening study focusing on monoamine oxidase inhibitory activity on the EtOAc extract of an Ascomycete Chaetomium quadrangulatum, which previously gave five unique chromones possessing this activity (chaetoquadrins A-E (1-5)), this time afforded six new constituents termed chaetoquadrins F-K (6-11) in addition to 1-5. The structures of 6-11 have been deduced on the basis of spectral and chem...

Experiments have been made on the production of mutations by irradiation with monochromatic ultra violet light. The basic object of the experiments was to see whether thresholds exist in this phenomenon of the type familiar in photo-chemical reactions. If such thresholds can be demonstrated, a technique of analysis of biological material might be opened up similar to that used by the physicist ...
