Thymic carcinoid tumors belong to the group of mediastinal tumors, but are quite rare and usually carry a very poor prognosis. This report illustrates a case in which a thymic carcinoid tumor that had led to cavernous sinus syndrome was treated successfully. This is the first case report of a thymic carcinoid to metastasize to the cavernous sinus.

Carcinoid tumors conform less than 1% of all testicular tumors and most of them are neuroendocrine tumors which are primarily seen in testes. They are in the form of testicular metastasis from other organs. Carcinoid tumors may occur from differentiation of malignant teratomas. The main distinguishing feature of carcinoid tumors from other germ tumors is that they can be seen in all age groups....

Gastrointestinal carcinoid tumors date back to 1888 when Otto Lubarsch found multiple tumors in the distal ileum of two patients at autopsy (Lubarsch, 1888). The German pathologist Siegfried Oberndorfer was the first who used the term “Karzinoide Tumoren”, the English translation of which is “carcinoid tumor”. He coined this term because these tumors behaved less aggressively than true carcinom...

INTRODUCTION Neuroendocrine tumors are the second most common neoplasms of the larynx. Histopathologically, neuroendocrine tumors can be classified into four types: typical carcinoid tumors, atypical carcinoid tumors, small cell neuroendocrine tumors and paragangliomas. Typical carcinoid tumor of the larynx is a particularly rare occurrence. We present a case of this rare disease, and review an...

BACKGROUND Carcinoid tumors are usually considered to have a low degree of malignancy and show slow progression. One of the factors indicating the malignancy of these tumors is their size, and small ampullary carcinoid tumors have been sometimes treated by endoscopic resection. CASE PRESENTATION We report a case of a 63-year-old woman with a minute ampullary carcinoid tumor that was 7 mm in d...

The appendix is one of the most common sites for carcinoid tumors. Most carcinoids are found in appendices removed incidentally at laparotomy for conditions unrelated to acute appendicitis. We describe the case of a 13-year-old female who presented with abdominal pain in the right lower quadrant (RLQ), with nausea and decreased appetite for the previous 2 days. A physical examination favoreda d...

Very few cases of primary mucinous carcinoid of the ovary have been reported in the literature and the behavior of these tumors over the long term is unclear. We describe a case of primary mucinous carcinoid of the ovary in a 39-year-old woman trea...

BACKGROUND Tumors of the minor papilla of the duodenum are extremely rare, and they are mostly neuroendocrine tumors, such as somatostatinomas and carcinoid tumors. However, true incidence of carcinoid tumors in minor papilla might be much higher, because patients with minor papillary tumors usually remain asymptomatic. We report a very unusual case of carcinoid tumor in a patient with complete...
