Recent developments in cellulose wound dressings targeted to different stages of wound healing have been based on structural and charge modifications that function to modulate events in the complex inflammatory and hemostatic phases of wound healing. Hemostasis and inflammation comprise two overlapping but distinct phases of wound healing wherein different dressing material properties are requi...

Human body odor, which contains several volatile organic compounds, possesses various odor qualities. To identify key volatile compounds responsible for the common unpleasant odors derived from human axillae and feet, the odor quality and intensity of 118 human axillae and feet were directly evaluated by sniffing, and odor compounds obtained from the subjects were identified. Furthermore, the s...

The title Cd(II) coordination polymer, catena-poly[[{1,4-bis-[1-(2-pyridylmeth-yl)benzimidazol-2-yl]butane}cadmium(II)]-μ-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ato], [Cd(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(30)H(28)N(6))](n), was obtained by reaction of CdCO(3), benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid (H(2)btc) and 1,4-bis-[1-(2-pyridylmeth-yl)benzimidazol-2-yl]butane (L). The Cd(II) cation is six-coordinated by an N(2)O(4)-donor set. L ac...

Butane monooxygenases of butane-grown Pseudomonas butanovora, Mycobacterium vaccae JOB5, and an environmental isolate, CF8, were compared at the physiological level. The presence of butane monooxygenases in these bacteria was indicated by the following results. (i) O(2) was required for butane degradation. (ii) 1-Butanol was produced during butane degradation. (iii) Acetylene inhibited both but...

Abstract Making use of the code presented in previous work by Braun et al. (Eur Phys J B 92:230, 2019), finite element density functional calculations have been performed Cartesian coordinates using approach for 18 mostly organic molecules, which are acetic acid, ammonia, benzene, butane, carbon-dioxide, ethane, ethanol, fluorine gas, iso-butane, methane, methanol, nitrogen pentane, propane, ur...

The analysis of mixed acid streams plays an important role in the control of processes for the production of acetic acid and the determination of dicarboxylic and ketoacids, such as succinic (butane-dioic acid) and levulinic acids (4-oxypentanoic acid), can present particular problems to the analyst, In process streams at high temperatures these components are fully soluble but at ambient tempe...

A series of compounds based on the angular-shaped naphthalene tetracarboxylic diimide core have been synthesized, characterized and used as active layers of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs). The fabricated OFET devices exhibit n-type semiconducting characteristics, demonstrating the first examples of semiconductors based on angular-shaped naphthalene tetracarboxylic diimides.

Chloroform (CF) degradation by a butane-grown enrichment culture, CF8, was compared to that by butane-grown Pseudomonas butanovora and Mycobacterium vaccae JOB5 and to that by a known CF degrader, Methylosinus trichosporium OB3b. All three butane-grown bacteria were able to degrade CF at rates comparable to that of M. trichosporium. CF degradation by all four bacteria required O(inf2). Butane i...
