the purpose of the current research is investigating the phenylalanine removal by using magnetic nanoparticles (fe3o4) from water samples. the effect of ph, contact time and phenylalanine concentration on phenylalanine adsorption efficiency by magnetite nanoparticles are studied in a batch system. transmission electron microscopy (tem), x-ray diffraction patterns (xrd) and fourier transform inf...

This work constructs the membership functions of the system characteristics of a batch-arrival queuing system with multiple servers, in which the batch-arrival rate and customer service rate are all fuzzy numbers. The  -cut approach is used to transform a fuzzy queue into a family of conventional crisp queues in this context. By means of the membership functions of the system characteristics, ...

Background Experimental process-development and optimization is expensive and time-consuming. Real optimization by means of design of experiments involves data generation before optimization can be aimed for. This can make the way from process development to process establishment even harder, since academia or start-up research facilities might not have the possibility to generate these data. F...

We assess the performance of a partially shared bottleneck buffer for scalable video. The arrival process of the video packets is modelled by means of a two-class discrete batch Markovian arrival process. Using a matrix-analytic approach, we retrieve various performance measures. We illustrate our approach by means of a numerical example.

We assessed the reproducibility of measurements of plasma hormone and binding protein levels in umbilical cord blood collected from 30 male and female babies. They were delivered as singleton births from full-term pregnancies (gestational age >or= 37 weeks) in a cord blood donation programme. We assayed three plasma replicates from each cord blood sample at two points in time. Plasma oestradiol...

Stochastic traffic simulation models, such as TRAF-NETSIM, use random number seeds to generate variables to describe driver, roadway, and traffic characteristics. In analyzing outputs from these models, one should consider the variability of the responses. The variability of NETS IM' s output using the methods of replication and batch means was explored. For the batch means method, it is propos...

Clustering analysis is the process of identifying similar patterns in various types data. Heterogeneous categorical data consists on ordinal, nominal, binary, and Likert scales. The clustering solution for heterogeneous remains difficult due to partitioning complex dissimilarity features. It necessary find a high-quality techniques efficiently determine significant features This paper emphasize...

An effective marketing strategy is a method to identify the customers well. One of methods by performing customer segmentation. This study provided an illustration segmentation based on RFM (Recency, Frequency, Monetary) analysis using machine learning clustering that can be combined with demography, geography, and habit through data warehouse-based business intelligence. The purpose classifyin...

Mean value estimation of processes exhibiting Long Range Dependence (LRD) requires a different approach than the techniques applied to those exhibiting Short Range Dependence (SRD), except for the independent replication method. We describe a nonoverlapping batch means method able to deal with LRD processes, the LRD Batch Means method. This method exploits the behavior of Asymptotically Second-...

Studying evolution in the laboratory provides a means of understanding the processes, dynamics and outcomes of adaptive evolution in precisely controlled and readily replicated conditions. The advantages of experimental evolution are maximized when the selection is well defined, which enables linking genotype, phenotype and fitness. One means of maintaining a defined selection is continuous cul...
