We establish a thermodynamic limit and Gaussian fluctuations for the height and surface width of the random interface formed by the deposition of particles on surfaces. The results hold for the standard ballistic deposition model as well as the surface relaxation model in the off-lattice setting. The results are proved with the aid of general limit theorems for stabilizing functionals of marked...

Consider sequential packing of unit volume balls in a large cube, in any dimension and with Poisson input. We show after suitable rescaling that the spatial distribution of packed balls tends to that of a Gaussian field in the thermodynamic limit. The results cover related applied models, including ballistic deposition and spatial birth-growth models.

We investigate scattering through chaotic ballistic quantum dots in the Coulomb-blockade regime. Focusing on the scattering phase, we show that large universal sequences emerge in the short wavelength limit, where phase lapses of π systematically occur between two consecutive resonances. Our results are corroborated by numerics and are in qualitative agreement with existing experiments.

In this thesis, we study continuous diffusions in random environment on Rd . The randomness in the environment is incorporated in the diffusion matrix and the drift term that are stationary random variables. Once the environment is chosen, it remains fixed in time, and the diffusion evolving in this frozen environment is a Markov process. To restore some stationarity, it is common to average bo...

This paper describes the development of an efficient mechanical oscillator. It is capable of combining the energetic advantages of ballistic movement with cycle adjustability and active orbital control. Pneumatic artificial McKibben muscles are used as variable springs, from which the stiffness is varied in order to induce a limit cycle.

We calculate the width of the growing interface of ballistic aggregation in the limit in which the range of the sticking interaction between the particles becomes infinite. We derive a scaling form for the width, a n d we compute the shortand long t ime exponents finding U = $ and CI =;. Furthermore, we find that the crossover exponent defining the argument of the scaling function is y = 4. We ...
