A case of right atrial myxoma is described. The patient had vague and variable symptoms and it was not until five years after first presentation that she had developed clinical and electrocardiographic evidence of right atrial hypertrophy, and angiocardiographic evidence of a fist-sized myxoma which was subsequently removed surgically.

BACKGROUND Cardiac myxoma is known to cause repeated events of cerebral embolism. Soft and irregularly shaped myxomas with high mobility are associated with a higher occurrence of cerebral embolism. In contrast, nonmobile cardiac myxomas with a round regular shape are rarely considered to be a cause of cerebral embolism. In this case, we present a patient with recurrent cerebral embolism associ...

Atrial myxoma is the most common primary cardiac tumor. Its clinical presentation varies greatly from asymptomatic incidental mass to serious life-threatening cardiovascular complications. We herein describe the clinicopathological and imaging features of a huge left atrial myxoma protruding into the left ventricle during diastole and obstructing diastolic filling of the left ventricle thus cau...

A 22-year-old woman with a history of transient ischemic attack 2 weeks earlier presented with dyspnea on exertion. Cardiac auscultation revealed only an apical mid-diastolic murmur. Her electrocardiogram indicated atrial fibrillation. Transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) showed significant rheumatic mitral stenosis (mitral valve area: 1.3 cm2) and mobile homogeneous mass in the left atrium (Fig....

Abttract: Episodic Central Nervous System Ischemia of Undetermined Cause: Relation to Occult Left Atrial Myxoma • Left atrial myxoma should be considered seriously in patients with unexplained cerebral dysfunction, particularly those in whom there are multiple recurrent cerebral vascular episodes, despite the absence of suggestive heart findings. Substantiating this observation are two such ill...

Primary cardiac tumors are rare and approximately half of them are atrial myxomas. They rarely remain asymptomatic, especially if large. The imaging of a myxoma by contrast dye during coronary angiography is an infrequent sign, which clarifies the vascular supply of the tumor. We report herein an interesting and rare case of a left atrial myxoma hypervascularized from the right coronary artery.

Background: Atrial myxoma is uncommon and may be associated with brief isolated ischemic events. We describe a patient with atrial myxoma and an incompletely evaluated ischemic stroke followed 1 year later with almost complete brain necrosis. Summary ofReport: A 63-year-old woman presented with a rapidly progressive illness resulting in coma within 24 hours from multiple myxomatous emboli. Cran...

Atrial myxomas are uncommon in the pediatric population but are very important due to pursuant atrioventricular valve obstruction and systemic embolic events. Concerning multiple symptoms ranging from congestive heart failure to neurological deficits, the diagnosis of this disease is complicated. This paper reports a case of left atrium myxoma in a child treated with a surgical excision o...

Rapid growth of a left atrial myxoma was demonstrated in a patient who showed no echocardiographic evidence of the tumour when he was admitted for coronary artery bypass grafting. Eight months later he complained of dyspnoea and fatigue, and cross sectional echocardiography showed a 6 x 4 cm left atrial myxoma. This was removed and the diagnosis was confirmed by histological examination.
