Allyl aryl ethers can be easily cleaved by the use of 10% Pd/C under the mild and basic conditions.
Deprotonation with strong bases of N-vinyl ureas carrying an N'-aryl substituent leads to migration of the N'-aryl group from N to C via an allyllithium; with weaker bases and electron-deficient aryl rings the direction of the migration reverses, and aryl substituents α to the urea N atom may migrate from C to N.
The synthesis of 5-substituted 6,6a-dihydroisoindolo[2,1-a]quinolin-11(5H)-ones via [4 + 2] imino-Diels-Alder cyclization from N-aryl-3-hydroxyisoindolinones and N-vinyl lactams under Lewis acid-catalysed anhydrous conditions is reported. Reactions of N-(2-substituted-aryl)-3-hydroxyisoindolinones with N-vinylpyrrolidone under identical conditions resulted in the formation of 2-(2-substitued-ar...
Mukaiyama Michael addition of silyl enol ethers 13 to the 1,2-quinone-4-carboxylate 6 (formed in situ by oxidation of the catechol ester 8) afforded the 2-subsituted 7-hydroxybenzofuran-4-carboxylates 14 in fair to good yields. Alkyl and aryl systems work well, but highly electron-rich silyl enol ethers could not be used because of competing oxidation.
A new method for the preparation of alkyl aryl sulfides through direct oxidative thiolation of alkanes or ethers with arylsulfonyl hydrazides using di-tert-butyl peroxide (DTBP) as an oxidant catalyzed by Pd(OAc)2 has been reported. The C-H bonds in various alkanes or ethers were successfully converted into C-S bonds to yield the corresponding sulfides in moderate to good yields.
Abstract We report a novel method to synthesize degradable poly(vinyl ether)s with cleavable thioacetal bonds periodically arranged in the main chains using controlled cationic copolymerization of vinyl ethers 7‐membered cyclic ( 7‐CTA ) via degenerative chain transfer (DT) internal bonds. The bonds, which are introduced into by ring‐opening ethers, serve as in‐chain dormant species allow homog...

Cu-catalyzed O-arylation of phenols with aryl iodides and bromides can be performed under mild condition in DMSO/K(3)PO(4) with use of picolinic acid as the ligand for copper. This method tolerates a variety of functional groups and is effective in the synthesis of hindered diaryl ethers and heteroaryl ethers.
