Patients with spinal vascular lesions present with unique symptoms and have important anatomical and physiologic changes that must be considered prior to treatment. In this mini-review, we provide an overview of normal spinal vascular anatomy and discuss several key spinal vascular lesions. We provide an overview of cavernous malformations, intradural arteriovenous malformations, perimedullary ...
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Osler-Weber-Rendu is a hereditary disease characterized by telangiectasias, arteriovenous malformations, and aneurysms involving the cutaneous, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and central nervous systems. This report describes a combinatorial approach using laparoscopic and intraoperative endoscopy to perform a partial gastric resection of bleeding arteriovenous malformat...
BACKGROUND Dural sinus malformation (DSM) is a term used to describe congenital vascular malformations characterized by massive dilation of one or more dural sinuses: these dilatations are typically associated with arteriovenous shunts. Such malformations can present antenatally but their early natural history and anatomy is poorly defined. METHODS We reviewed five years of autopsy experience...
A 3 week old infant presented with persistent hypoxaemia and was diagnosed with pulmonary arteriovenous malformations. Her family history was positive for hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia. She was treated successfully with coil embolotherapy at the age of 4 months. Transcatheter embolisation may be considered the primary treatment for pulmonary arteriovenous malformations in infancy.
Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations are rare congenital abnormal connections between the pulmonary arteries and veins. The patients are usually asymptomatic [1]. Although their aetiology is unclear, it is presumed that genetic abnormalities constitute a predisposition [1, 2]. An arteriovenous malformation might cause serious complications if it remains undiagnosed and untreated [3]. We report...
Arteriovenous malformations are rare in the head and neck region and generally arise from intracranial vessels. We present two rare cases with spontaneous arteriovenous malformations related to the ear. The role of magnetic resonance imaging and colour Doppler sonography in the diagnosis and management of such cases is discussed along with a review of the literature.
Vein of Galen malformation (VGAM) results from an aneurysmal aberration with an arteriovenous shunting of blood. Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformations are the most frequent arteriovenous malformations in infants and fetuses. The congenital malformation develops during weeks 6-11 of fetal development. Infants often die from high-output congestive heart failure.

PATIENTS Data of patients with cerebral arteriovenous malformation who underwent Onyx embolisation over a 14-month period were prospectively collected. RESULTS Eleven sessions of Onyx embolisation were performed...
