Routers handle data packets from sources unresponsive to TCP’s congestion avoidance feedback. We are interested in the impact these sources have on AQM’s control of long-lived TCP traffic. In this paper, we combine models of TCP/AQM dynamics with models of unresponsive traffic to analyze the effects on AQM performance.
In this paper we introduce a new active queue management (AQM) algorithm called GREEN. GREEN provides high link utilization whilst maintaining low delay and packet loss. GREEN enables low latency interactive applications such as telephony and network games. GREEN is shown to outperform the current AQM algorithms. Certain performance problems with current AQMs are discussed.
Active Queue Management (AQM) is investigated to avoid incipient congestion in gateways to complement congestion control run by the transport layer protocol such as the TCP. Most existing work on AQM can be categorized as (1) ad-hoc event-driven control and (2) time-driven feedback control approaches based on control theory. Ad hoc event-driven approaches for congestion control, such as RED (Ra...
Denial of Service (DoS) attacks are currently one of the biggest risks any organization connected to the Internet can face. Hence, the congestion handling techniques at the edge router(s), such as Active Queue Management (AQM) schemes must take into account such attacks. Ideally, an AQM scheme should (a) ensure that each network flow gets its fair share of bandwidth, and (b) identify attack flo...
We introduce a novel and robust active queue management (AQM) scheme based on a Proportional-IntegralDerivative (PID) controller, called Neuron PID, that uses an adaptive neuron to tune its parameters. We demonstrate by simulations that Neuron PID stabilizes the router queue length regardless of the round trip delay better than other well-known AQM algorithms.
IP multicast suffers from scalability problems as the number of concurrently active multicast groups increases, since it requires a router to keep forwarding state for every multicast tree passing through it. In QoS multicast provisioning, the problem becomes even worse, since not only the forwarding state but also the resource requirement of a multicast group needs to be kept at the router. Pr...
-The Congestion Control and queue management are important to the robustness and fairness of the Internet and other network application. The Congestion Control is concerned with allocating the network resources such that the network can operate at an optimum fair performance level when the demand exceeds or it is near the capacity of the network resources. The Active Queue Management algorithms...
The quantum field theory (QFT) is one of branches the Standard Model. According to QFT, fields are primary entities and particles excitations these fields, coming in discrete lumps with no inner structures properties assigned by declaration. Such view conflict observed vacuum energy density, 140 orders magnitudes less than required QFT. In addition, such challenged Aphysical Quantum Mechanics (...
In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of an AQM router serving many AIMD flows. Our model for the AQM router is general and covers most AQM schemes in the current literature. We use a window-based model for the AIMD flows. When the number of AIMD flows is large, we show that the system converges point wise to a limit model. Further, under certain technical conditions, we prove that th...
