The interactions between fundamental life molecules, people and social organisations build complex architectures that often result in undesired behaviours. Despite all of the advances made in our understanding of network structures over the past decade, similar progress has not been achieved in the controllability of real-world networks. In particular, an analytical framework to address the con...

Establishing hidden communication and conveying information secretly has been of interest since long past ago. One of the methods introduced for establishing hidden communication is Steganography. Methods of Steganography have been mostly applied on images, audios, videos, and text files while the major characteristics of these methods are to change in the structure and features so as not be id...

In the field of computational biomechanics, investigators have primarily used commercial software that is neither geared toward biological applications nor sufficiently flexible to follow the latest developments in the field. This lack of a tailored software environment has hampered research progress, as well as dissemination of models and results. To address these issues, we developed the FEBi...

We propose a model for the correlation structure of reference portfolios of collateralized debt obligations. The model is capable of exhibiting typical characteristics of the implied correlation smile (skew, respectively) observed in the market. Moreover, it features a simple economic interpretation and is computationally inexpensive as it naturally integrates into the factor model framework.

A method is derived to detect and localize linear damage in a structure using the measured modal vibration parameters. This method is applicable when the vibration strain energy is stored in the axial or torsional modes, which differentiates it from previously derived strain-energy-based methods. The new method is compared to the previously derived flexibility-change method for comparison. Both...

It is shown analytically that there exists a natural basis in terms of which the nonperturbative time evolution of an important class of driven four-level systems in the strong-coupling regime decouples and essentially reduces to the corresponding time evolution in the weak-field regime, exhibiting simple Rabi oscillations between the different relevant quantum states. The predictions of the mo...

We examine the majorization properties of general thermal-like mixed states depending on a set of parameters. Sufficient conditions which ensure the increase in mixedness, and hence of any associated entropic form, when these parameters are varied, are identified. We then discuss those exhibiting a power law distribution, showing that they can be characterized by two distinct mixing parameters,...

This paper presents a rather simple method to model cluster architectures using Stochastic Automata Networks (SAN) formalism. Although, the modeling power of SAN, the presented models are quite simple and do not fully describe the complexity of existing clusters. It is not the purpose of this paper to proposed ready-to-evaluate models to real clusters, but just introduce the formalism to the pa...

Networks on-chip (NoCs) provide enhanced performance, scalability, modularity, and design productivity as compared with previous communication architectures for VLSI systems on-chip (SoCs), such as buses and dedicated signal wires. Since the NoC design space is very large and high dimensional, evaluation methodologies rely heavily on analytical modeling and simulation. Unfortunately, there is n...

Commonly known in macroscale mechanics, buckling phenomena are now also encountered in the nanoscale world as revealed in today's cutting-edge fabrication of microelectronics. The description of nanoscale buckling requires precise dimensional and elastic moduli measurements, as well as a thorough understanding of the relationships between stresses in the system and the ensuing morphologies. Her...
