it is believed that the inhibition of carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzymes including α-amylase and α-glucosidase is one of the therapeutic approaches to decrease the postprandial glucose level after a meal, especially in the people with type 2 diabetes. medicinal plants and their extracts are one of the main sources to find new inhibitors to the enzymes. in our study four flavonoids, namely luteoli...

The oral commensal bacterium Streptococcus gordonii interacts with salivary amylase via two amylase-binding proteins, AbpA and AbpB. Based on sequence analysis, the 20-kDa AbpA protein is unique to S. gordonii, whereas the 82-kDa AbpB protein appears to share sequence homology with other bacterial dipeptidases. The aim of this study was to verify the peptidase activity of AbpB and further explo...

In order to evaluate the allelopatic potential of sunflower alcoholic extract against winter wild oat (Avena ludoviciana) at germiantion and vegetative growth stage two expriments were coducted in Islamic Azad University, Shoushtar branch at 2012. Both expriments were laid out according to Completely Randomized Design with five replications and treatments were various concentration of sunflower...

Amylase activity and mRNA abundance are reduced to less than 1% of normal levels in diabetic rat pancreas. Administration of vanadate in drinking water restored normal amylase activity and amylase mRNA levels. These results demonstrate an effect of vanadate on pancreatic acinar cells and suggest that vanadate can mimic the effect of insulin on transcription of the pancreatic amylase gene.

Background: The mechanism of hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic activities of Pyrus biossieriana Buhse leaf extract (PbBLE) and its phytochemical component arbutin, have not been well determined. The present study was performed to understand the hypoglycemic activity mechanisms of pbBLE and arbutin more clearly. Methods: In vitro enzymatic carbohydrate digestion with PbBLE and arbutin was assessed u...

asparaginase and amylase are widely used enzymes in various industries, which can be produced by endophytic fungi. in this study, the ability of producing these two enzymes in endophytic fungi isolated from six species of thymus has been reported for the first time in the world. among 89 isolates of the test, 34 isolates produced asparaginase among which m24 (fusarium subglutinans) displayed th...

Amylases are among the most important enzymes and are of great significance in present day industry. Starch degrading bacteria are most important for industries such as food, fermentation, textile and paper. Amylase is a hydrolytic enzyme and in recent years, interest in its microbial production has increased dramatically due to its wide spread use in food, textile, baking and detergent industr...

In the present study, textural and structural characterizations of chitosan bead for immobilization of alpha amylase were studied in detail by N2 adsorption–desorption, Microspore Analysis (MP), Barrett–Joyner–Halenda (BJH) plots and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) observations. Pore structure observation revealed chemical activation of chitosan bead by glutaralde...
