background and aim: neonatal jaundice is one of the common causes of early sensorineural hearing loss and an important cause of deafness in children. auditory responses are the most sensitive parts of the nervous system to the toxic effect of bilirubin. this study was aimed to examine the effect of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and its treatment on auditory brainstem responses (abr). methods: ...

ATM Available Bit Rate (ABR) service is intended to o er low cell loss for nonreal-time data sources that can respond to closed-loop ow control. ATM Forum Tra c Management Speci cation Version 4.0 de nes the various parameters used in the ABR ow control, as well as the source, destination, and switch behaviors. However, the switch designers and service providers are free to choose the method of...

The Available-Bit-Rate (ABR) service that is being standardized by the ATM Forum dynamically determines the maximum transmission rate, the explicit rate, of a connection. A drawback of the dynamic control scheme for calculating the explicit rates is that it tries to allocate the same bandwidth to all ABR connections regardless of the application type of the connection. In this study a multi-lev...

The speech-evoked auditory brain stem response (speech ABR) is widely considered to provide an index of the quality of neural temporal encoding in the central auditory pathway. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the extent to which the speech ABR is shaped by spectral processing in the cochlea. High-pass noise masking was used to record speech ABRs from delimited octave-wide frequency...

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to investigate the association between sex and speech-ABR in adults, and its relationship to sex hormone levels. MATERIAL AND METHODS Speech-ABR were elicited with the consonant-vowel syllable (/da/) in a total of 35 adults. Reproductive hormone levels were also measured. RESULTS The transient response of the speech-ABR (waves V, A, and O) in females show a ...

In this contribution, we present an analysis of the effect of changing RM cell intervals on ABR performance. We describe our newly developed ABR model in OPNET. This OPNET ATM model contains enhanced features to support the QoS capabalities of ATM, and a comprehensive ABR feedback model. We describe the various features of the ATM model, and use it for our simulation and analysis.

The auditory-brainstem response (ABR) to short and simple acoustical signals is an important clinical tool used to diagnose the integrity of the brainstem. The ABR is also employed to investigate the auditory brainstem in a multitude of tasks related to hearing, such as processing speech or selectively focusing on one speaker in a noisy environment. Such research measures the response of the br...

The auditory brainstem response (ABR) is a test widely used to assess the integrity of the brain stem. Although it is considered to be an auditory-evoked potential that is influenced by the physical characteristics of the stimulus, such as rate, polarity and type of stimulus, it may also be influenced by the change in several parameters. The use of anesthetics may adversely influence the value ...

The volume of video traffic is continuing to grow rapidly over cable networks. While a majority of IP video on DOCSIS networks today is over-the-top video from third parties, operators are increasing the amount of programming their subscribers can access on IP video-capable devices. Additionally many operators are pursuing IP video deployments that are at various stages from planning, testing, ...
