The first complete genome sequence of Clostridium sporogenes DSM 795(T), a nontoxigenic surrogate for Clostridium botulinum, was determined in a single contig using the PacBio single-molecule real-time technology. The genome (4,142,990 bp; G+C content, 27.98%) included 86 sets of >1,000-bp identical sequence pairs and 380 tandem repeats.

We present a theoretical and experimental study of the ultranarrow bandwidth Faraday anomalous dispersion optical filter operating at the rubidium D1 line (795 nm). This atomic line gives better performance than other lines for key figures of merit, e.g., simultaneously 71% transmission, 445 MHz bandwidth, and 1.2 GHz equivalent-noise bandwidth.

The generation of an octave spanning supercontinuum covering 488-978 nm (at -30  dB) is demonstrated for the first time on-chip. This result is achieved by dispersion engineering a 1-cm-long Si3N4 waveguide and pumping it with an 100-fs Ti:Sapphire laser emitting at 795 nm. This work offers a bright broadband source for biophotonic applications and frequency metrology.

We compute all nonic extensions of Q3 and find that there are 795 of them up to isomorphism. We describe how to compute the associated Galois group of such a field, and also the slopes measuring wild ramification. We present summarizing tables and a sample application to number fields.
