A room temperature hybrid electrolyte based lithium-sulfur cell was successfully cycled with an excellent coulombic efficiency of 100%. The initial discharge specific capacities of up to 1528 mA h g(-1), 1386 mA h g(-1) and 1341 mA h g(-1), respectively, at C/20, C/5 and C/2 rates were realized and remained at 720 mA h g(-1) after 40 cycles at the C/5 rate.

Here we prove a probabilistic contraction mapping principle in Menger spaces. This is in line with research in fixed point theory using control functions which was initiated by Khan et al. [Bull. Austral. Math. Soc., 30(1984), 1-9] in metric spaces and extended by Choudhury et al. [Acta Mathematica Sinica, 24(8) (2008), 1379-1386] in probabilistic metric spaces. An example has also been constru...

BACKGROUND A high perioperative inspiratory oxygen fraction (80%) has been recommended to prevent postoperative wound infections. However, the most recent and one of the largest trials, the PROXI trial, found no reduction in surgical site infection, and 30-day mortality was higher in patients given 80% oxygen. In this follow-up study of the PROXI trial we assessed the association between long-t...

Most antibiotics were discovered via their inhibition of growth of target organisms. However, yeasts in particular have the capability to adapt metabolic pathways to the availability of nutrients e.g. yeasts can easily switch between respiratory and fermentative pathways in response to oxygen concentration, or can even use both simultaneously. Thus, we cultivated S. cerevisiae BY4741 and C. alb...
