Infections of Plasmodium berghei in mice was stopped by azithromycin which was administered orally in dosages of 100mg/kg, for 28 days. This antibiotic was given since the same day that the animals were infected. The outcome suggests the necessity of more investigations on this antiparasitic activity.

Navayasa curna mixed in Lohasava was screened for hepatoprotective activity against carbon tetrachloride induced liver injury in albino rats at a dose of 100mg/kg body weight. The drug reduced liver weight, alkaline phosphatase and GOT activity in liver and chloresterol and GPT activity in serum. There was no effect on protein and liver glycogen.

Serum C-reactive protein was studied serially by a 1-hour laser nephelometric assay in 25 patients with leukaemia who developed 34 episodes of infection. The serum level rose above, or by, 100mg/l in 29 of the episodes.
