Production of tissue mast cells was evaluated in genetically anemic mice of W/Wv genotype and was found to be abnormal. In the skin of adult W/Wv mice the number of mast cells/cm was less than 1% of the number observed in the congeneic +/+ mice. No mast cells were detectable in other tissues of the W/Wv mice. After transplantation of bone marrow cells from +/+ mice the number of mast cells in t...

BACKGROUND We previously identified eight known and novel genes differentially expressed in the small intestines of wild type and W/WV mice, which have greatly reduced populations of the interstitial cells of Cajal, that are responsible for the generation of electrical slow waves, by using a differential gene display method. METHODS By using the same method we isolated additional candidate ge...

In an earlier study, an electronic tongue system (e-tongue) has been used to differentiate between orange juice made from healthy fruit and from fruit affected by the citrus greening or Huanglongbing (HLB) disease. This study investigated the reaction of an e-tongue system to the main chemicals in orange juice that impact flavor and health benefits and are also impacted by HLB. Orange juice was...

Mast cells have long been believed to be the central effector cells in the development of immunoglobulin (Ig)E-dependent anaphylaxis. In this study, we investigated the role of mast cells in IgE-dependent hapten-induced active fatal anaphylaxis using mast cell-deficient WBB6F1- W/Wv (W/Wv) and congenic normal (+/+) mice. Although a 5-min delay in shock signs and death were observed in W/Wv mice...

The structure of the title salt, C(12)H(12)N(+)·HSeO(4) (-), consists of infinite parallel two-dimensional planes built of 4-benzyl-pyridinium and hydrogen selenate ions that are mutually connected by strong O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. There are no contacts other than normal van der Waals inter-actions between the layers.

In the title mol-ecular salt, C(4)H(10)NO(+)·C(4)H(5)O(6) (-), the morpholinium cation adopts a chair conformation. The conformation of the C-C-C-C backbone of the monotartrate anion is close to anti [torsion angle = 173.18 (17)°], which is supported by two intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-H-O and O-H-O hydrogen bonds, generating (001) sheets.

In this work a combined molecular dynamics simulation and dynamically corrected transition-state theory (dcTST) study was performed to investigate the effect of interpenetration (catenation) on hydrogen diffusion in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as well as their relationships. The results on 10 isoreticular MOFs (IRMOFs) with and without interpenetration show that catenation can reduce hydrog...

We and others have established a role for T lymphocytes and their products in the regulation of erythropoiesis. Interleukin-3 (IL-3) is a multipotential lymphokine with burst-promoting activity that is produced by activated T lymphocytes. In the anemic, stem cell-defective W/Wv mouse we have described the absence of a functionally active thymocyte population that in normal animals enhances eryt...
