”Electronic Theses” is a JISC funded FAIR (Focus on Access to Institutional Resources) project spanning 2 years from July 2002 until July 2004. The project, led by RGU, consists of members from the following institutions: • The Robert Gordon University • University of Aberdeen • Cranfield University • The University of London Library • The British Library The main aim of the project is to evalu...
Using the constant growth dividend discount model (DDM), it can be shown that the critical factor which determines whether common stocks will be able to be an inflation hedge is the growth rate o f dividends. In turn, the growth of dividends is mainly impacted by the aggregate return on equity (ROE). Using the DuPont formula, it is clear that the main variable that drives the aggregate ROE in a...
Goulden, I.P., A linear operator for symmetric functions and tableaux in a strip with given trace, Discrete Mathematics 99 (1992) 69-77. The sum of Schur symmetric functions in a countable set of variables, over partitions with given trace and upper bound on the number of parts, is evaluated. This generalizes results of Gordon (1971). The method is to extend an analogous sum in a finite set of ...
An integral representation for form-factors of exponential elds e ia' in the sine-Gordon model is proposed.
A system of coupled Klein-Gordon equations is suggested to model onedimensional nonlinear wave processes in a bi-layer. The type of coupling depends on the type of the interface and constitutes an arbitrary element of the Lie group classification problem, which is solved for these equations. The classification results are used to find conservation laws and particular invariant solutions.
In recent work, Alladi, Andrews and Gordon discovered a key identity which captures several fundamental theorems in partition theory. In this paper we construct a combinatorial bijection which explains this key identity. This immediately leads to a better understanding of a deep theorem of Göllnitz, as well as Jacobi’s triple product identity and Schur’s partition theorem.
In 2005, British Chancellor Gordon Brown asked Sir Nicholas Stern to conduct a major review of the economics of climate change, as a guide to developing government policy. Stern is a well-respected, established economist: he has been the chief economist at the World Bank, the second permanent secretary of HM Treasury, and the head of the (UK) Government Economic Service. It is not a background ...
We construct an action for the N = 2 supersymmetric sine-Gordon model on the half-line, which we argue is both supersymmetric and integrable. The boundary interaction depends on three continuous boundary parameters, as well as the bulk mass parameter.
I am grateful to the Kauffman Foundation for funding the field study from which the ideas for this paper have emerged, to Elizabeth Gordon, the Research Associate on the study, and to Massimo Cordella who provided outstanding assistance for this paper.
