In this paper, we discuss methods for incorporating data acquired as 3D surface scans of human faces into applications such as 3D animation and biometric 3D facial recognition. In both applications the challenge is to accurately and consistently find predefined features such as the corners of the eyes and the tip of the nose. In the field of biometry, if 3D face recognition is to compete with 2...

Around the word, traffic growth is causing growing air and noise pollution. Noise levels in a given area are affected by traffic on the streets as well as effective factors, including existing infrastructure and industrial centers, and so on. The purpose of this research is to model and estimate the amount of acoustic emission in the streets of Tehran's third district, using the 3D spatial info...

In this paper, by combining the geographic information systems ~GIS! spatial analysis function and a hydrologic analysis and modeling tool with a column-based three-dimensional ~3D! slope stability analysis model, a new GIS grid-based 3D deterministic model has been developed for slope stability analysis. Assuming the initial slip as the lower half of an ellipsoid, the identification of the 3D ...

3D Face Recognition is an active area of research for past several years. For a 3D face recognition system one would like to have an accurate as well as low cost setup for constructing 3D face model. In this paper, we use Profilometry approach to obtain a 3D face model. This method gives a low cost solution to the problem of acquiring 3D data and the 3D face models generated by this method are ...

Face recognition in uncontrolled environments is hindered by variations in illumination, pose, expression and occlusions of faces. Many practical face-recognition systems are affected by these variations. One way to increase the robustness to illumination and pose variations is to use 3D facial images. In this paper 3D face-recognition systems are presented. Their structure and operation are de...

3D facial data has a great potential in overcoming the problems of illumination and pose variation in face recognition. In this paper, we investigate face recognition from range data by facial profiles and surface. An efficient symmetry plane detection method for facial range data is presented to help extract facial profile. A global profile matching method is then exploited to align and compar...

The Fast Fourier Transform was applied to spatial spectrum modeling of a one-dimensional fractal (Cantor set), a two-dimensional fractal (Sierpinski carpet), and a three-dimensional fractal (Menger sponge). A spectrum is developed for different levels. The spatial spectrum was also obtained and modeled for various filling parameters. The ParaView software package was used for 3D modeling.

Automatic face recognition is becoming increasingly important due to the security applications derived from it. Although the face recognition problem has focused on 2D images, recently, due to the proliferation of 3D scanning hardware, 3D face recognition has become a feasible application. This 3D approach do not use the colour of the faces, so, when it is compared to the more traditional 2D ap...

This article presents key research needs in three-dimensional integrated circuit (3D IC) architectural floorplanning. Architectural floorplaning is done at a very early stage of 3D IC design process, where the goal is to quickly evaluate architectural designs described in register-transfer level (RTL) in terms of power, performance, and reliability. This evaluation is then fed back to architect...
