Antibody titers to tetanus toxin in human sera were assayed by passive hemagglutination with turkey erythrocytes, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and counterimmunoelectrophoresis. The first two of these tests were shown to be the most sensitive for antibody detection, having the same range of sensitivity and reproducibility. The antibody levels determined by these assays were up to 400-fold ...

INTRODUCTION Subcutaneous (SQ) vaccination has emerged as standard of care in children with severe bleeding disorders to reduce unnecessary factor exposure and avoid provoking an intramuscular bleed, but little is known about comparative immunogenicity to intramuscular (IM) vaccination. AIM To confirm immunogenicity of Diphtheria Tetanus acellular Pertussis (DTaP) vaccines administered SQ to ...

A form of systemic tetanus with atypical symptoms was observed in mice injected in the left thigh with a mixture of tetanus toxin and antibody produced in guinea pigs against a fragment of toxin obtained from a subtilisin digest of the crystallized toxin. The mice did not show typical symptoms of the local tetanus such as convulsions or spastic paralysis of the injected limb.

BACKGROUND Vaccination rates are frequently considered a surrogate measure of protection. To provide more accurate estimates, serum levels of antibody against tetanus were measured as part of the third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III), which studied a representative sample of the civilian, noninstitutionalized population of the United States. METHODS We measured t...

Postimmunization human B lymphocytes and mouse myeloma cells were fused to produce interspecies hybridomas secreting human antibody of predefined specificity with an initial frequency comparable to intraspecies fusion. After 13 mo in culture, one clone continued to secrete high titers of human IgG antitetanus toxin antibody. This antibody binds to the B fragment of tetanus toxin and protects mi...

Twenty-six patients who had recovered from group A meningococcal meningitis were vaccinated with group C meningococcal polysaccharide and tetanus toxoid. Their haemagglutinating antibody response was measured two weeks later and compared with those of 22 siblings and 39 controls. Patients and siblings had a significantly lower antibody response to the group C vaccine but not to tetanus toxoid. ...

introduction: based on the existing studies, measuring serum level of immunoglobulin for making decisions regarding prescription of tetanus prophylaxis seems logical and cost effective. therefore, the present study was done with the aim of evaluating the diagnostic accuracy of tetanus quick stick (tqs) in comparison with elisa method in this regard. methods: the present diagnostic accuracy stud...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Tetanus and diphtheria are vaccine-preventable, infectious diseases with significant morbidity and mortality. Immunization by the diphtheria and tetanus toxoid (DT) has been applied in Iran for almost 50 years. However, there are very few data about the rate of immunity to these diseases in the adult population. the humoral immunity to tetanus and diphtheria among bloo...

Protection to tetanus is often not optimal in developing countries due to incomplete vaccination schemes, or decreased efficacy of vaccination. In this study we investigated the immunological response to tetanus booster vaccination in school children living in a semi-urban or in a rural area of Gabon. Tetanus-specific total IgG as well as antibody subclasses of the IgG1, IgG2, IgG3 and IgG4 iso...
