In this paper, dye removal ability of the surface modified nanoparticle SMN copper ferrite from single and quaternary systems was investigated. Acid Blue 92 AB92, Direct Green 6 DG6, Direct Red 23 DR23 and Direct Red 80 DR80 were used as model compounds. The effect of surfactant concentration, adsorbent dosage, dye concentration and pH on dye removal was evaluated. The adsorption isotherm and k...
titanium dioxide (tio2) nanoparticles, with an average size of about 45 nm, were encapsulated by polystyrene using in situ nitroxide mediated radical polymerization in the presence of 3-aminopropyl triethoxy silane (aptes) as a coupling agent and 2, 2, 6, 6-tetramethylpiperidinyl-1-oxy as a initiator. first, the initiator for nmrp was covalently bonded onto the surface of titanium dioxide na...
Early work with size-tunable periodic particle arrays (PPAs) fabricated by nanosphere lithography (NSL) demonstrated that the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) could be tuned throughout the visible region of the spectrum. The LSPR is sensitive to changes in nanoparticle aspect ratio and local dielectric environment. This property has recently been exploited to develop a novel method of...
We theoretically investigate the strong coupling between a single molecule and a single metallic nanoparticle. A theory suited for the quantum-mechanical description of surface plasmon polaritons SPPs is developed. The coupling between these SPPs and a single molecule, and the modified molecular dynamics in the presence of the nanoparticle are described within a combined Drude and boundary-elem...
Self-assembly of metallic nanoparticles were investigated for the development of field-enhanced chemical and biological detection devices with the capacity to achieve single-molecule level detection resulting from surface enhanced Raman scattering, associated with closely spaced noble metal nanostructures. Using chemical selfassembly, we attached monodisperse, colloidal gold nanoparticles on se...
We report a prototype approach to formulate gold nanoparticle-based X-ray absorbing agents through surface-engineering of a cisplatin pharmacophore with modified polyacrylate. The resulting agents exhibit both chemo-therapeutic potency to cancer cells and Auger-mediated secondary electron emission, showing great potential to improve the therapeutic efficacy of chemo-radiation.
A facile strategy was developed here to prepare cross-linked polymeric nanocapsules (CP nanocapsules) with silica nanoparticles as templates. The silica nanoparticle@cross-linked polymer nanoparticles were prepared by the encapsulation of the silica nanoparticles by the one-pot approach via surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization of hydroxyethyl acrylate in the presence of N,N'-m...
