The occurrence of diterpenoids from roots and aerial parts of the species of the genus Stachys (Lamiaceae, Labiatae) is reviewed. The presence of these diterpenoids in other taxa and their biological properties have been also reviewed.
The essential oil obtained from the aerial parts of the Turkish endemism Stachys aleurites (Lamiaceae) has been studied. The main constituents were sesquiterpene hydrocarbons: bcaryophyllene (33.7%), bicyclogermacrene (14.5%) and germacrene D (9.6%). The main monoterpene was a-pinene (8.4%). Some chemotaxonomical considerations have been provided. 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
This paper investigates hedge fund performance and risk. The empirical evidence indicates that hedge funds differ substantially from traditional investment vehicles such as mutual funds. The funds with watermarks significantly outperform the funds without watermarks. The average hedge fund returns are related positively to incentive fees, the size of the fund, and the lockup period. Hedge funds...
The caffeoyl derivatives of Stachys leaves (Labiateae) were identified as chlorogenic acid, verbascoside and stachyoside. The latter compound, reported here for the fist time, was shown to be a verbascoside derivative containing an extra glucose residue attached to C-2, C-3 or C-4 of rhamnose. Cotyledonary leaves of Stachys accumulate high levels (8 —16 ^mol/g dry tissue) o f the three caffeoyl...
As invasive plant species are a major driver of change on oceanic islands, their control is an important challenge for restoration ecology. The post-control recovery of native vegetation is crucial for the treatments to be considered successful, but few studies have evaluated the effects of control measures on both target and non-target species. To investigate the efficiency of manual control o...
Baccharis trinervis (Lam.) Pers. (Family: Asteraceae alt. Compositae), used in South American folk medicine as an antiseptic, digestive and to treat snake-bites (Duke, 1999), is widely distributed from Mexico to Argentina (USDA-ARS-GRIN database, 1999). Plant material was collected from Costa Rica and supplied by Biotics Limited, University of Sussex, Brighton, UK. A voucher specimen (MNL10118)...
Stachys genus with medicinal properties and high polymorphic features has been considered oneof the largest genera of Lamiaceae. The aim of this study was to determine the flavonoid patternvariations and flavonoid groups in ten Stachys species belonging to two sections; Fragilicaulis, and Aucheriana. The studied species were collected from natural habitats in Iran and analysedfor their flavonoid...
BACKGROUND The phytochemical analysis of Stachys alopecuros subsp. divulsa, an endemic Italian species, has been recently reported and has showed the presence of 8-O-acetylharpagide (2), harpagide (3), allobetonicoside (4), and 4¢-O-galactopyranosyl-teuhircoside (5). In this paper, an in deep study of its glycosidic fraction with the aim to widen the knowledge on its secondary metabolites conte...
the aim of this study was to investigate the stachys turcomanica phytochemical compounds, antimicrobial and antioxidant activity of methanolic extract. the volatile constituents from the aerial parts of stachys turcomanica growing wild in iran were obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gc and gc-ms. in the gc-ms analysis, forty-six components representing 81.1% of the oil were identifie...
