Abstract— In this paper, power system modes are monitored for the purpose of stability prediction using an innovated recursive Subspace System Identification (SSI) method. SSI methods can process large package of sampled data using powerful mathematical tools. However, their application for monitoring requires some changes in SSI algorithms in order to provide their recursive versions. SSI algo...
A substantial working history is not a characteristic normally associated with recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments. Yet nearly 80 percent of all SSI disabled recipients have worked before applying for SSI and 20 percent work after they start receiving SSI payments. This study takes a look at various facets of the work histories of disabled SSI recipients, including the amo...
We assessed 4045 ambulatory surgery patients for surgical site infection (SSI) using claims-based triggers for medical chart review. Of 98 patients flagged by codes suggestive of SSI, 35 had confirmed SSIs. SSI rates ranged from 0 to 3.2% for common procedures. Claims may be useful for SSI surveillance following ambulatory surgery.
Patients with malignant brain tumors are possibly at increased risk for surgical site infections (SSIs) considering the various medical situations associated with the disease. However, the actual rate of SSI after malignant brain tumor resection has not been well established, despite the potential impact of SSI on patient outcome. To investigate the incidence of SSI following malignant brain tu...
OBJECTIVE The incidence of surgical site infection (SSI) after hysterectomy ranges widely from 2% to 21%. A specific risk stratification index could help to predict more accurately the risk of incisional SSI following abdominal hysterectomy and would help determine the reasons for the wide range of reported SSI rates in individual studies. To increase our understanding of the risk factors neede...
BACKGROUND Independent risk factors for surgical site infection (SSI) after cesarean section have not been well documented, despite the large number of cesarean sections performed and the relatively common occurrence of SSI. OBJECTIVE To determine independent risk factors for SSI after low transverse cesarean section. DESIGN Retrospective case-control study. SETTING Barnes-Jewish Hospital...
BACKGROUND Surgical Site Infections (SSI) is the third most commonly reported nosocomial infection which has an adverse impact on the hospital as well as on the patient. A continuous surveillance is called for, to keep a check on the occurrence of SSI. OBJECTIVES to study the incidence of SSI in our hospital.to study the risk factors of SSI in our hospital.to identify the areas in our hospita...
This note addresses concerns about the amounts of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments made to households where two or more recipients live together. Under current law these payments are not generally reduced. One of the concerns is that the SSI program may be providing income to households whose income exceeds an equitable standard, defined in terms of the poverty guidelines.’ This stud...
OBJECTIVES To determine the sensitivity and specificity of a novel ELISA for the serodiagnosis of surgical site infection (SSI) due to staphylococci following median sternotomy. METHODS Twelve patients with a superficial sternal SSI and 19 with a deep sternal SSI due to Staphylococcus aureus were compared with 37 control patients who also underwent median sternotomy for cardiac surgery but ex...
Previous experiments have shown that STAT-induced STAT inhibitor-1 (SSI-1; also named suppressors of cytokine signaling-1 (SOCS-1) or Janus kinase binding protein) is predominantly expressed in lymphoid organs and functions in vitro as a negative regulator of cytokine signaling. To determine the function of SOCS-1 in vivo, we generated SSI-1 transgenic mice using the lck proximal promoter that ...
