We develop a theory of motivic integration for smooth rigid varieties. As an application we obtain a motivic analogue for rigid varieties of Serre’s invariant for p-adic varieties. Our construction provides new geometric birational invariants of degenerations of algebraic varieties. For degenerations of Calabi-Yau varieties, our results take a stronger form.

The focus of this paper is the standard linear representation of the group SLn(C)×SLm(C)×SL2(C), that is, the tensor product of the corresponding tautological representations. Classification of its orbits is a classic problem, which goes back to the works of Kronecker and Weierstrass. Here, we summarize some known results about standard linear representations of SLn(C) × SLm(C) × SL2(C), GLn(C)...

Spinocerebellar ataxia type 23 is caused by mutations in PDYN, which encodes the opioid neuropeptide precursor protein, prodynorphin. Prodynorphin is processed into the opioid peptides, a-neoendorphin, and dynorphins A and B, that normally exhibit opioid-receptor mediated actions in pain signalling and addiction. Dynorphin A is likely a mutational hotspot for spinocerebellar ataxia type 23 muta...

In this paper, we consider the Galois covers of algebraic surfaces degree 6, with all associated planar degenerations. We compute fundamental groups those covers, using their degeneration. show that for 8 types degenerations, group cover is non-trivial and 20 it trivial. Moreover, Chern numbers type degeneration prove signatures are negative. formulate a conjecture regarding structure based on ...

decades, however, more and more research, including development of animal models, has led us to understand better different aspects of these diseases. Degenerative Retinal Disorders. Clinical and Laboratory Investigations by Hollyfield, Anderson, and LaVail comprises 40 papers, many of which were presented at the Sendai Symposium on Retinal Degeneration, held in Nagoya, Japan, in 1986. OBJECTIVES To assess balance and ability to function in patients with spinocerebellar ataxia. METHODS A total of 44 patients with different spinocerebellar ataxia types 1, 2, 3, and 6 were evaluated using the Tinetti balance and gait assessment and the functional independence measure. The scale for the assessment and rating of ataxia and the international cooperative ataxia rating scale were ...

The cerebellum is implicated in maintaining the saccadic subsystem efficient for vision by minimizing movement inaccuracy and by learning from endpoint errors. This ability is often disrupted in degenerative cerebellar diseases, as demonstrated by saccade kinetic abnormalities. The study of saccades in these patients may therefore provide insights into the neural substrate underlying saccadic m...
