Solitary fibrous tumours are spindle-cell neoplasms that usually occur in the pleura and peritoneum, and rarely involve the oral mucosa. We report a 30-year-old man with a large solitary fibrous tumour on the buccal mucosa that resembled a salivary gland neoplasm. The lesion was excised and has not recurred.

A 50 year old woman with a 10-year history of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and intermittent low-dose cyclophosphamide therapy developed a palpable mass at the periphery of her left breast. Ultrasound guided core biopsy revealed a spindle cell neoplasm characterized on final pathology as a low grade leiomyosarcoma.

A malignant schwannoma of the right acoustic nerve of a dog is described. The neoplasm was found during necropsy of a 12-year-old, spayed, female Labrador Retriever that experienced a sudden onset of severe pain in the neck and upon opening the mouth. Concurrent mild hind limb ataxia also was present. The tumor had infiltrative growth, and the spindle-shaped neoplastic cells were arranged in sh...

Myxoid solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is very rare soft tissue neoplasm. It is microscopically composed of spindle cells which is individually separated by delicate band of collagen fibers. And this tumor cells are immunohisto-chemistrically highlighted by CD34. Myxoid SFT has indolent clinical course and a good prognosis, so it is important to make a diagnosis because of its morphological simila...

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare spindle-cell neoplasm, especially in the thyroid. We report a case of primary solitary fibrous tumor of the thyroid gland in a 37 year-old Chinese man. The tumor was characterized by bland-looking spindle cells admixed with thin and thick collagen fibers. On immunohistochemistry study indicated that tumor cells were diffusely positive for CD34, Bcl-2 and C...

We report a case of metastatic malignant melanoma resembling a malignant peripheral sheath tumor, which posed a significant diagnostic challenge. The patient is a 76-year-old male, who presented in the emergency room with bilateral chest pain exacerbated by inspiration. The pain was present for 3 week and was not exacerbated by physical exercise. The diagnostic workup revealed bilateral parench...

Myofibroblastoma (MFB) of the breast is an uncommon entity benign spindle neoplasms breast. This tumour possesses a broad spectrum histomorphological patterns. Distinguishing myofibroblastoma variants from malignant mimics this neoplasm essential for pathologists to avoid further invasive surgical procedures. In article, we report clinical, morphological, and immunohistochemical features three ...

Synovial sarcoma is defined as a mesenchymal spindle cell tumour which displays variable epithelial differentiation including glandular formation and has a specific chromosomal translocation [1]. It is an aggressive and rare neoplasm which is histologically classified into two subtypes: monophasic and biphasic. Epithelial predominant synovial sarcoma can mimic epithelial neoplasms and is freque...

A case of xanthogranulomatous inflammation of the gastric wall is reported. The lesion was associated with adherent xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis and simulated, clinically, a malignant neoplasm. Histologically, foamy histiocytes, multi-nucleated giant cells, other inflammatory cells, fibrous reaction with spindle cells and cholesterol clefts were found.

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a spindle cell neoplasm of mesenchymal origin that typically arises from the pleura. Several extrapleural sites have also been described, including the orbit, lacrimal gland fossa, and lacrimal sac. We present the clinical, imaging, and histopathologic findings of an SFT arising from the sclera that manifested as an intraocular mass with extrascleral extension.
