The theory is der~ved in several stages ([1], [.4], [9], [10]). Each stage exhibits the minim:11 systems that are compatible with a given list of psychological postulates. Successive stages refine either the dynamical'"equations themselves, or the synthesis of netw:)rk COIU1ections, to satisfy additional postulates. This paper reviews the derivation of stage one, for completeness, and proves tw...

During emerging disease outbreaks, massive information are disseminated through social network. In China, Sina microblog system as the biggest social network provide a novel way to monitoring the development of emerging disease and public awareness. However, only a small percentage of microblogs could wide spread. Therefore, predict popularity of microblogs timely are meaningful for emergency m...

Multivoxel pattern analysis (MVPA) has gained enormous popularity in the neuroimaging community over the past few years. At the group level, most MVPA studies adopt an “information based” approach in which the sign of the effect of individual subjects is discarded and a non-directional summary statistic is carried over to the second level. This is in contrast to a directional “activation based”...

We present an ideal observer analysis of single word reading in normal readers and central scotoma patients. Using this technique we are able to predict the spatio-temporal pattern of saccades in terms of pixels. This enables us to contrast theories that are impossible to compare using the traditional letter-slot approaches to modelling reading.

We introduce the inertial-DNF (iDNF) model, an expansion of the dynamic neural filter (DNF) model, a model generating spatiotemporal patterns similar to those observed in the locust antennal lobes (ALs). The DNF model, which was described in previous works, includes one temporal scale defining the discrete dynamics inherent to the model. It lacks a second, slow, temporal scale that exists in th...

The evolution of solar magnetic arcades is investigated with the use of MHD simulations imposing resistivity on sheared magnetic elds. It is found that there is a critical amount of shear, over which magnetic reconnection can take place in an arcade-like eld geometry to create a magnetic island. The process leading to reconnection cannot be solely attributed to a tearing instability, but rather...

objectives: the aim of this study was to extract suitable spatiotemporal and kinematic parameters to determine how total knee replacement (tkr) alters patients’ knee kinematics during gait, using a rapid and simplified quantitative two-dimensional gait analysis procedure. methods: two-dimensional kinematic gait pattern of 10 participants were collected before and after the tkr surgery, using a ...

Capturing moving objects data is now possible and becoming cheaper with the advances in the positioning and sensor technologies. The increasing amount of such data and the various fields of applications call for intensive research work for building a spatiotemporal DBMS. This involves several aspects such as modeling the moving objects data, designing query methods, query optimization, ...etc. ...

In this work we present a method for the estimation of a rank-one pattern living in two heterogeneous spaces, when observed through a mixture in multiple observation sets. Using a well chosen representation for an observed set of second order tensors (matrices), a singular value decomposition of the set structure yields an accurate estimate under some widely acceptable conditions. The method pe...
