Luminosity functions and their integrated luminosity densities are presented for the 6dF Galaxy Survey (6dFGS). This ongoing survey ultimately aims to measure around 150000 redshifts and 15 000 peculiar velocities over almost the entire southern sky at |b| > 10◦. The main target samples are taken from the 2MASS Extended Source Catalog and the SuperCOSMOS Sky Survey catalogue, and comprise 138 2...

We have mapped the total sky brightness at 1465 MHz in two adjacent 60 • declination bands with the portable 5.5-m parabolic reflector of the Galactic Emission Mapping (GEM) project, an ongoing international collaboration to survey the radio continuum of the sky in decimeter and centimeter wavelengths. The observations were conducted from two locations, one in the USA and the other in Brazil, u...

Measurement of the sky’s brightness at night is needed in observatories celestial bodies. This research utilizes tourism Tulungagung Regency to increase tourist attraction beauty objects such as stars, moon, etc. In addition, it provides information astronomical whether or not place suitable for research. study measures a certain time based on region and position moon. The method used observati...

In the last decade numerous Sky Quality Meters (SQMs) were installed throughout globe, aiming to assess temporal change of night sky brightness (NSB), and thus in light pollution. However, it has become clear that SQM readings may be affected by aging effects such as degradation sensor sensitivity and/or loss transmissivity optical components (filter, housing window). To date, magnitude darkeni...

Daylight availability and sky luminance distributions vary spatially and temporally depending on geography, weather, and other local conditions. Substantial amount of data is accumulated from long term measurements in various parts of the world (Kitler et al. 1992) through sky scanners. These devices (such as the Krochmann sky scanner) typically measure luminance at 145 points. The accumulated ...

Airborne multispectral and hyperspectral remote sensing is a powerful tool for environmental monitoring applications. In this paper we describe a new system (ASPIS) composed by a 4-CCD spectral sensor, a thermal IR camera and a laser altimeter that is mounted on a flexible Sky-Arrow airplane. A test application of the multispectral sensor to estimate durum wheat quality is also presented.

In response to its users’ needs, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) initiated reanalysis (RAN) of the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) Global Area Coverage (GAC; 4 km) sea surface temperature (SST) data employing its Advanced Clear Sky Processor for Oceans (ACSPO) retrieval system. Initially, AVHRR/3 data from five NOAA and two Metop satellites from 2002 ...
