While acute regurgitation is the most common valvular lesion associated with aortic sinus of Valsalva aneurysms, this report describes the pathological findings in five patients in whom primary right-sided valve dysfunction was simulated by sinus of Valsalva aneurysms. In two patients aneurysms of the noncoronary sinus projected into the right atrium at the level of the tricuspid valve and caus...

Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm can be congenital or acquired. The major complication is rupture: this can represent an evolution or an abrupt event. In case of rupture or of large aneurysm, a surgical approach is justified. We report a case of ruptured sinus of Valsalva aneurysm in a seventeen years old girl, who had underwent surgical correction of Fallot tetralogy. As soon as the rupture of sinus...

A sinus of Valsalva aneurysm is a rare malformation of the aortic root that can fistulize to another cardiac structure such as the right atrium. Although transthoracic echocardiography and computed tomography angiography have demonstrated utility for the diagnosis of a sinus of Valsalva-to-right atrial fistula, there are few cases where a misdiagnosis may occur. Intraoperative transesophageal e...

Pseudoaneurysm is an uncommon and serious complication of infective endocarditis (IE). It is often fatal because of its rapid progress, high rates of rupture and recurrence, and worsening effects on the systemic condition. We report the rare case of a patient who developed a pseudoaneurysm of the sinus of Valsalva two months after emergency aortic valve replacement for active IE. At the previou...

Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm, dilatation of one or more of the aortic sinuses, is a rare but important aortic root defect, which can be a cause of some serious cardiac sequels. The purpose of this article is to review the etiopathogenesis, relevant anatomy, clinical manifestations, potential complications, multimodality imaging features, and management of this rare but important entity of sinus o...

Aneurysms of the sinus of Valsalva are very rare and mostly located in the right coronary sinus. They might course with dyspnea, fatigue, and acute coronary syndromes. We present herein an extremely rare case report of a 61-year-old woman diagnosed with external left main coronary compression by a giant aneurysm of the left sinus of Valsalva, which was successfully managed with percutaneous cor...

Huge unruptured sinus of Valsalva aneurysms is rarely observed. We report a 32-year-old woman presenting with exertional dyspnea in which a giant unruptured noncoronary sinus of Valsalva aneurysm was detected after echocardiography. The aneurysm was surgically repaired and the aortic and mitral valves were replaced.
