this paper presents a comparative study between three versions of adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (anfis) algorithms and a pseudo-forward equation (pfe) to characterize the north sea reservoir (f3 block) based on seismic data. according to the statistical studies, four attributes (energy, envelope, spectral decomposition and similarity) are known to be useful as fundamental attributes in ...
Petrophysics and Geophysics have not always worked in the past as closely together as one might expect. This paper discusses current advances, and sketches future developments. The major objective of Geophysical Research was to obtain sharper pictures. With the advent of 3-D seismic, there is a strong trend to make displays both in time and depth, and to convert seismic attributes into rock pro...
‘Reservoir Characterization (RC)’ can be defined as the act of building a reservoir model that incorporates all the characteristics of the reservoir that are pertinent to its ability to store hydrocarbons and also to produce them. It is a difficult problem due to non-linear and heterogeneous subsurface properties and associated with a number of complex tasks such as data fusion, data mining, fo...
We have developed a fast and robust algorithm for the extraction of 3-D seismic attributes. The algorithm is based on the recursive computation of the 3-D sliding-window Radon transform. Considerable gain in computational eeciency has been achieved with respect to existing algorithms. Field data results demonstrate the eeectiveness of the method for 3-D seismic interpretation.
Heavy crude oil is known as oil that is highly viscous and of a higher density than that of conventional oil. Sand reservoirs containing heavy oil generally consist of unconsolidated sediments deposited at a shallow burial depth, with high porosity and permeability. In seismic exploration, acoustic impedance inversion is a commonly used tool in reservoir prediction. However, due to the unconsol...
optimal attributes are useful in interpretation of seismic data. two proposed methods are presented in this paper for finding optimal attributes. regularized discriminate analysis(rda) is based on 2 parameters ë, ? which called regularization parameter. the other method is principal component analysi s(pca).in this paper gas chimney detection is defined as the subject of study for ranking relev...
Seismic facies analysis (SFA) aims to classify similar seismic traces based on amplitude, phase, frequency, and other seismic attributes. SFA has proven useful in interpreting seismic data, allowing significant information on subsurface geological structures to be extracted. While facies analysis has been widely investigated through unsupervised-classification-based studies, there are few cases...
Texture-based methods have proven to be useful in the detection of salt bodies in seismic data. In this abstract, we present three computationally inexpensive texture attributes that strongly differentiate salt bodies from other geological formations. The proposed method combines the three texture attributes along with region boundary smoothing for delineating salt boundaries. Our first propose...
We apply skeletonization approach to geophysical data to recognize geologic structures and pick seismic horizons automatically. We formulate the technique to be explicitly applicable to all gridded geophysical data. The method consists in extracting multiple features of “wavelets” which may be single or double peaks or troughs characterized by amplitudes, widths, orientation angles, spatial dim...
