The zooplankton community structure in Eğirdir Lake (Isparta-Turkey) was studied monthly throughout an annual cycle (January 2010-December 2010). The zooplankton community was represented by three main groups: Rotifera, Cladocera and Copepoda, respectively comprised 89.62%, 7.78% and 2.60% of the total zooplankton abundance. Eğirdir Lake was dominated by the rotifera Polyarthra dolichoptera in ...

Seasonal variation in water quality of Anchar Lake was evaluated using multivariate statistical techniques- principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA). Water quality data collected during 4 seasons was analyzed for 13 parameters. ANOVA showed significant variation in pH (F3 = 10.86, P < 0.05), temperature (F3 = 65, P

We studied whether the effects of Bythotrephes longimanus, a new predatory cladoceran zooplankton species to North America, can extend beyond the macrozooplankton to the rotifer community, which is known to be an important controller of the microbial loop. During summer 2003, 14 Canadian Shield lakes were sampled biweekly to evaluate the effect of Bythotrephes on epilimnetic rotifers. Rotifer d...

Identifying temporal variation in hospitalization rates may provide insights about disease patterns and thereby inform research, policy, and clinical care. However, the majority of medical conditions have not been studied for their potential seasonal variation. The objective of this study was to apply a data-driven approach to characterize temporal variation in condition-specific hospitalizatio...

Seasonal variation in the development of retinal vein occlusion in 1003 consecutive patients with various types of retinal vein occlusion was studied prospectively from 1973 to 1990. No seasonal variation in the onset of any type or combination of types of retinal vein occlusion was found. This refutes previous reports of such seasonal variation, which were based on small retrospective series.
