background: recurrence rate of rotator cuff tears is still high despite the improvements of surgical techniques, materials used and a better knowledge of the healing process of the rotator cuff tendons. large to massive rotator cuff tears are particularly associated with a high failure rate, especially in elderly. augmentation of rotator cuff repairs with extracellular matrix or synthetic patch...

AIM Review of our experience and to develop an algorithm for salvage procedures in the management of hypospadias cripples and treatment of urethral strictures following hypospadias repair. METHODS This is a retrospective review of hypospadias surgeries over a 41-month period. Out of a total 168 surgeries, 20 were salvage/re-operative repairs. In three children a Duplay repair was feasible, wh...

Interpreting fttUy natural speech is an important goal for spoken language understanding systems. However, while corpus studies have shown that about 10% of spontaneous utterances contain selfcorrections, or REPAIRS, little is known about the extent to which cues in the speech signal may facilitate repair processing. We identify several cues based on acoustic and prosodic analysis of repairs in...

This paper describes a method of detecting speechrepairs that uses a part-of-speech tagger. The tagger is given knowledge about category transitions for speechrepairs, and so is able to mark a transition either as a likely repair or as fluent speech. Other contextual clues, such as editing terms, word fragments, and word matchings, are also factored in by modifying the transition probabilities.

BACKGROUND The optimal method for arthroscopic rotator cuff repair is not yet known. The hypothesis of the present study was that a double-row repair would demonstrate superior static and cyclic mechanical behavior when compared with a single-row repair. The specific aims were to measure gap formation at the bone-tendon interface under static creep loading and the ultimate strength and mode of ...

This paper treats the replacement problems with incomplete repairs. In many papers, replacement problems have been studied under the assumption of minimal repairs or complete repairs, and not considered the number of failures as the deteriorating measure of units. In this paper, we introduce and formalize som., basic model as an approach to that case. In the basic model it is shown that a non·r...
