Ralstonia pickettii is a rare pathogen and even more rare in healthy individuals. Here we report a case of R. pickettii bacteremia leading to aortic valve abscess and complete heart block. To our knowledge this is the first case report of Ralstonia species causing infective endocarditis with perivalvular abscess.

OBJECTIVE Partial demarcation and infarction of the upper pole of the spleen is not a rare occurrence after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). Neonatal liver abscess is a very rare condition associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. There seems to be an increasing trend of this rare condition amongst the newborns admitted to neonatal intensive care units. We report a case of liver abscess in a premature newborn and briefly review the literature and discuss its management.

Fungal brain abscess is a rare entity especially in an immune competent host. Here we report a rare case of Candida brain abscess in a 19 year old immune competent patient. The diagnosis was made by CT scan of brain and confirmed by microbiological culture. The patient did not respond to surgical intervention and antimicrobial therapy and succumbed to his illness.
