who had sustained fat embolism. For the purposes of the present investigation three blood samples were taken from an arm vein in each patient; the first after the induction of anaesthesia but before insertion of the pertrochanteric needle; the second five minutes after the first injection of contrast material; and the third 20 minutes later. The blood was allowed to clot and the plasma then exa...
measuring the artificial radionuclide concentrations in the water and sediment samples of arvandrood
background: due to the evacuation of some industrial wastewaters to arvandrood, the presence of the radionuclide material in the river is likely. the purpose of this study was to determine the radioactivity rate in arvandrood land area to the persian gulf. methods: : the concentration of cesium radionuclide (cs137) was measured in 20 sediment samples and 8 water samples which were collected fro...
Three cases of femoral vein occlusion following a Mc-Vay repair for femoral and inguinal hernias are presented. Phlebography demonstrated constriction of the femoral vein at the site of the repair. This complication is due to compression of the femoral vein by too tight a repair.
The possibility that subclinical increased heat of the limb may be an early and reliable sign in the diagnosis of deep venous thrombosis is being investigated using thermography. Of the 35 cases studied 17 have had early deep venous thrombosis confirmed on phlebography. Of these, 16 cases have been previously diagnosed using thermography.
Two series of patients observed clinically and by phlebography suggest that one agent known to produce a reduction in platelet aggregation in vitro might be useful in reducing the incidence of deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism postoperatively. The agent used in this study was hydroxychlorquine sulphate.
Computed orbital phlebography (COP), described as computed tomography with concomitant injection of contrast medium into a frontal vein, was used to evaluate the cavernous sinuses in 19 patients with intrasellar or parasellar lesions and in two normal controls. Bilateral opacification occurred in 12 subjects, eight of whom had pituitary tumors. Unilateral partial obliteration was encountered in...
Paradoxical embolization of venous thrombus into the abdominal aortic bifurcation has been diagnosed by means of aortography. Lower limb phlebothrombosis accounting for the embolus formation has been demonstrated by phlebography. Arterial embolectomy and venous thrombectomy were successfully performed. Recovery was complete without sequelae.
