This report is centred on the development of a novel control algorithm for the adaptive linearisation of mobile radio frequency (RF) communications amplifiers, in order to significantly improve their distortion characteristics. The proposed adaptive linearisation methodology achieves optimal efficiency with minimal distortion. Research objectives also include the synthesis of RF amplifier dynam...

The development of a 10-kW average power, 94-GHz gyroklystron amplifier is described. This average power was obtained with 11% radio frequency (RF) duty factor and 92-kW peak power in the TE01 circular cavity mode. The instantaneous bandwidth was 420 MHz, and the efficiency was 33.5%. Low-duty-factor testing also yielded a peak power of as much as 115 kW with 600-MHz instantaneous bandwidth. Th...

Radio Frequency (RF) power amplifiers (PAs) have large memory effects and high nonlinearity. It is very important to analyze the system level performance of PAsaccurately using a simple behavioral or mathematical model. This paper proposes a system-level behavioral model for RF PA that exhibit memory effects. This model gives quite accurate results in predicting the behavior of PAs with memory eff...

A review of electron beam bunching methods is presented. A method to create trains of short electron mi-crobunches by a creation of an electron multilayer mirror in the longitudinal phase space and then rotating it in fields of Radiofrequency (RF) accelerators or Free-Electron Laser (FEL) amplifiers is proposed.

The self-consistent time-dependent code MAGY is presently being used for designing and modeling gyrodevices. In this paper, the code’s self-consistent capability is used to investigate three different issues relating to the operation of gyroklystron amplifiers. These are the effect of window reflection on the properties of the output waves, higher order mode excitation in nonlinear output taper...

In this paper, an ultra-low-noise amplifier with frequency band switching capability is designed, simulated and fabricated. The two frequency ranges of this amplifier consist of the 2.4 to 2.5 GHz and 3.1 GHz to 3.15 GHz frequency bands. The designed amplifier has a noise figure of less than 1dB, a minimum gain of 23 dB and a VSWR of less than 2 in the whole frequency band. The design process s...

In this paper, analysis, simulation and design of a distributed amplifier (DA) with 0.13µm CMOS technology in the frequency range of 3-40 GHz is presented. Gain cell is a current reused circuit which is optimum in gain, noise figure, bandwidth and also power dissipation. To improve the noise performance in the frequency range of interest, a T-matching low pass filter LC network which is utilize...

In this work, we model a radiofrequency discharge of hydrogenated silicon nitride in a capacitive coupled plasma reactor using Maxwellian and non-Maxwellian electron energy distribution function. The purpose is to investigate whether there is a real advantage and a significant contribution using non-Maxwellian electron energy distribution function rather than Maxwellian one for determining the ...

Radio Frequency (RF) power amplifiers (PAs) are one of the most important elements in radio telecommunication facilities, which are used to amplify the power of input signals. At the same time, they gradually become the bottleneck for modern telecommunication systems due to the confliction between the linearity and the efficiency, resulting in their relatively high level energy consumption. Vol...
