Background: Clinical determination of convergence accommodation to convergence (CA/C) ratios may be useful for analysis of accommodation and vergence disorders, but there are no standard clinical methods of measurement of CA/C ratios. This study compared two potential clinical CA/C measurement methods to a laboratory procedure. Methods: CA/C ratios were measured for 19 young adult subjects usin...

OBJECTIVE The Pediatric Risk of Mortality (PRISM) score is one of the scores used by many pediatricians for prediction of the mortality risk in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Herein, we intend to evaluate the efficacy of PRISM score in prediction of mortality rate in PICU. METHODS In this cohort study, 221 children admitted during an 18-month period to PICU, were enrolled. PRISM sc...

Ensemble learning can be used to increase the overall classification accuracy of a classifier by generating multiple base classifiers and combining their classification results. A frequently used family of base classifiers for ensemble learning are decision trees. However, alternative approaches can potentially be used, such as the Prism family of algorithms which also induces classification ru...

In this document, we present our applied results on balancing security and performance using a running example, which is based on sensor networks. These results are forming a basis for a new approach to balance security and performance, and therefore provide design-efficiency of key updates. We employ probabilistic model checking approach and present our modelling and analysis study using PRISM...

To determine whether a disruption of binocular vision that has been previously shown to be amblyogenic disturbs visually guided growth, and in particular to follow-up the observation by Kiorpes and Wallman [Kiorpes, L., & Wallman, J. (1995). Does experimentally-induced amblyopia cause hyperopia in monkeys? Vision Research, 35(9), 1289-1297] that monkeys in whom strabismus had been induced some ...

the pediatric risk of mortality (prism) score is a measure of illness severity based on abnormalities observed on bedside examination and laboratory assessment at pediatric intensive care unit (picu) admission to predict mortality probability. our study was performed on 205 patients who were admitted to picu of children’s medical center (cmc) over a period of 6 months.data were recorded prospec...

Patients with hemispatial neglect ('neglect') following a brain lesion show difficulty responding or orienting to objects and events on the left side of space. Substantial evidence supports the use of a sensorimotor training technique called prism adaptation as a treatment for neglect. Reaching for visual targets viewed through prismatic lenses that induce a rightward shift in the visual image ...

UNLABELLED The Pictorial Representation of Illness and Self Measure (PRISM) is a recently developed tool designed to measure the burden of suffering due to illness in a variety of patient populations. The purpose of the current study was to validate PRISM as a measure of suffering in patients with chronic non-cancer pain. Patients (n = 138) were recruited from 2 hospital pain clinics, where the...

The Tunable Activation Threshold hypothesis of T Cells is investigated through computational modelling of T cell signalling pathways. Modelling techniques involving the π-calculus and the PRISM model checker are presented, and are applied to produce a stochastic model of T cell signalling. Initial results which demonstrate tuning of T cells are presented.
