We report a case of a 23-year-old man presented with a painful swelling over his right occipital region. Selective right carotid angiogram demonstrated a markedly tortuous and dilated right occipital artery feeding into a circular or cirsoid aneurysm in the right occipital scalp. Percutaneous occlusion of the cirsoid aneurysm was not attempted and the patient underwent a successful resection of...
We report the unusual case of pulsatile tinnitus caused by muscular branches of the occipital artery, which developed to supply the distal vertebral artery after subclavian artery occlusion. Anatomical findings and options of endovascular treatment are discussed. To our knowledge, subclavian artery occlusion causing an objective tinnitus has not been reported.

We report a case of ruptured tectal arteriovenous malformation (AVM) that was demonstrated angiographically only after removal of an unruptured occipital AVM. A 57-year-old man presented with sudden onset of diplopia and tinnitus. Computed tomography revealed a small hemorrhage in the right tectum mesencephali with intraventricular hemorrhage. Magnetic resonance imaging and angiography disclose...
BACKGROUND The greater occipital nerve (GON) block has been frequently used for different types of headache, but performed with rough estimates of anatomic landmarks. Our study presents the values of the anatomic parameters and estimates the effectiveness of the ultrasound-guided GON blockade. METHODS The GON was detected using ultrasound technique and distance from external occipital protube...
We report a case of unique location of an aneurysm at the atlanto-axial extradural segment of a unilateral aberrant vertebral artery. The MRI vessel wall imaging findings and possible mechanism of aneurysm formation were discussed. A 5 mm extracranial vertebral artery aneurysm located at the interlaminar space between C1 and C2 was diagnosed in a woman presenting with occipital headache. The in...
AIM Childhood meningiomas are scarce in clinical practice with an incidence ranging from 0.4 to 4.6% of all pediatric central nervous system (CNS) tumors. Cervico-occipital meningiomas account for 3.7% of childhood meningiomas and are slightly more frequent in male. RESULTS A 5-year-old female presented with febrile posterior cervico-occipital pain for 3 weeks. She was diagnosed with meningit...
Carotid artery stent placement, performed for correction of an asymptomatic severe stenosis, leads to the resolution of persistent and troublesome pulsatile tinnitus. Tinnitus has been reported as a consequence of severe carotid stenoses on previous occasions. This case highlights how an aberrant occipital artery originating above a carotid artery stenosis can result in flow reversal and be a m...
