This paper presents the results of oscillation analysis in K2K experiment. The results show indications of neutrino oscillation and give a new constraint on the oscillation parameters. The difference of neutrino masses squared ∆m lies between 1.5 and 3.9×10 eV at sin 2θ = 1 with the confidence level of 90%. In addition to these results, a brief overview of future long-baseline neutrino experime...

Assuming that CPT is violated in the neutrino sector seems to be a viable alternative to sterile neutrinos when it comes to reconciling the LSND anomaly with the remainder of the neutrino data. There are different (distinguishable) ways of incorporating CPT violation into the standard model, including postulating m 6= m̄. Here, I investigate the possibility of introducing CPT violation via Loren...

We will start with a brief overview of neutrino oscillation physics with emphasis on the remaining unanswered questions. Next we will discuss results and status of long baseline accelerator neutrino oscillation experiments that are in a mature data taking mode, have just started or are about to start data taking. Then, we will present the next generation of long baseline experiments with a prim...

In recent years, several underground neutrino observatories 1) 3) have reported that the atmospheric neutrino ratio, R ≡ (νμ + ν̄μ)/(νe + ν̄e), is significantly smaller than the theoretical expectations. This “atmospheric neutrino anomaly” can be explained by a neutrino oscillation hypothesis with an oscillation parameter region of ∆m2 ∼ 10−2eV2 and sin 2θ ∼ 1. The atmospheric neutrino anomaly ha...

To complement the neutrino-physics lectures given at the 2011 International School on Astro Particle Physics devoted to Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics (ISAPP 2011; Varenna, Italy), at the 2011 European School of High Energy Physics (ESHEP 2011; Cheila Gradistei, Romania), and, in modified form, at other summer schools, we present here a written description of the physics of neutrino oscillat...

New data from the T2K neutrino oscillation experiment produce the most precise measurement of the neutrino mixing parameter θ23. Using an off-axis neutrino beam with a peak energy of 0.6 GeV and a data set corresponding to 6.57×10(20) protons on target, T2K has fit the energy-dependent νμ oscillation probability to determine oscillation parameters. The 68% confidence limit on sin(2)(θ23) is 0.5...

Do neutrinos have nonzero masses? If they do, then these masses are very tiny, and can be sought only in very sensitive experiments. The most sensitive of these search for neutrino oscillation, a quantum interference effect which requires neutrino mass and leptonic mixing. In these lectures, we explain what leptonic mixing is, and then develop the physics of neutrino oscillation, including the ...

The Main Injector Neutrino Oscillation Search (MINOS) experiment uses an acceleratorproduced neutrino beam to perform precision measurements of the neutrino oscillation parameters in the “atmospheric neutrino” sector associated with muon neutrino disappearance. This long-baseline experiment measures neutrino interactions in Fermilab’s NuMI neutrino beam with a near detector at Fermilab and agai...

Within the framework of three-neutrino and four-neutrino scenarios that can describe the results of the LSND experiment, we consider the capabilities of short baseline neutrino oscillation experiments at a neutrino factory. We find that, when short baseline (L ∼ 100 km) neutrino factory measurements are used together with other accelerator-based oscillation results, the complete three-neutrino ...
