Quadrupole deformation parameters, |β2,(p,p′)|, have been deduced for 36,38,40Si from measured inelastic proton-scattering cross sections. Due to the strong Z = 14 subshell gap, low-lying quadrupole collectivity in these nuclei is attributed to the excitation of valence neutrons. The energies of the excited states in very neutron-rich (42)Si and (41,43)P have been measured using in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy from the fragmentation of secondary beams of (42,44)S at 39A MeV. We show that all IIB supergravity backgrounds which admit more than 28 Killing spinors are maximally supersymmetric. In particular, we find that for all N > 28 backgrounds the supercovariant curvature vanishes, and that the quotients of maximally supersymmetric backgrounds either preserve all 32 or N < 29 supersymmetries.
