We prove generalizations of Löwner’s results on matrix monotone functions to several variables. We give a characterization of when a function of d variables is locally monotone on d-tuples of commuting self-adjoint n-by-n matrices. We prove a generalization to several variables of Nevanlinna’s theorem describing analytic functions that map the upper half-plane to itself and satisfy a growth con...
The Lie algebra of the group SU2 is constructed from two deformed oscillator algebras for which the deformation parameter is a root of unity. This leads to an unusual quantization scheme, the {J2, Ur} scheme, an alternative to the familiar {J2, Jz} quantization scheme corresponding to common eigenvectors of the Casimir operator J and the Cartan operator Jz. A connection is established between t...
In this paper we systematically study extension questions in families of commuting operator tuples that are associated with the unit ball in C.
We develop standard models for commuting tuples of bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space under certain polynomial positivity conditions, generalizing the work of V. Müller and F.-H. Vasilescu in [6], [14]. As a consequence of the model, we prove a von Neumann-type inequality for such tuples. Up to similarity, we obtain the existence of in a certain sense “unitary” dilations.
Let A d be the complex polynomial ring in d variables. A contractive A d-module is Hilbert space H equipped with an A d action such that for any ξ 1 , ξ 2 ,. Such objects have been shown to be useful for modeling d-tuples of mutually commuting operators acting on a Hilbert space. An example is given by H 2 d , which is the Hilbert space of holomorphic functions on B d = {z ∈ C d : |z| ≤ 1} gene...
In this paper we study the existence of commuting regular elements, verifying the notion left (right) commuting regular elements and its properties in the groupoid G(n). Also we show that G(n) contains commuting regular subsemigroup and give a necessary and sufficient condition for the groupoid G(n) to be commuting regular.
A conjugation-invariant ideal I ⊆ C[zj , zj : j = 1, . . . , n] has the Quillen property if every real valued, strictly positive polynomial on the real zero set VR(I) ⊆ C n is a sum of hermitian squares modulo I . We first relate the Quillen property to the archimedean property from real algebra. Using hereditary calculus, we then quantize and show that the Quillen property implies the subnorma...
