Pt-decorated mesoporous silica is directly prepared using a polymeric micelles assembly approach using an asymmetric triblock copolymer, poly(styrene-b-2-vinylpyridine-b-ethylene oxide) as the structure directing agent. Strongly immobilized, fully accessible, and uniformly dispersed Pt nanoparticles on mesoporous silica wall exhibit superior catalytic activity toward CO oxidation.

We report the direct fabrication of mesoporous zeolite with a hollow spherical/ellipsoidal capsule structure by using conventional TPAOH and CTAB as soft micro- and mesopore generating templates; the mesoporous zeolite shows a high surface area of 717 m(2) g(-1) and small mesopore size of around 3 nm.

Hollow silica tubes with mesoporous wall structure were synthesized through the sol-gel reactions of tetraethoxysilane and n-octadecyltrimethoxysilane (TEOS/C18-TMS) on the surface of ammonium dl-tartrate crystals. Novel hollow carbon tubes with mesoporous walls and rectangular-shaped channels were fabricated using the silica tubes as templates.

We demonstrate here for the first time an original and facile approach to synthesizing a novel TiO(2) tube with a spiny mesoporous wall. The photocatalytic activity of the spiny mesoporous tube was greatly enhanced owing to the superior light reflecting ability of the tubular structure as well as the crosslinked spiny nanosheets.

Fe and Ni doped mesoporous Co3O4 (mCo3O4) catalysts were prepared and investigated for electrochemical oxygen evolution. The incorporation of Fe into mCo3O4 (Fe-mCo3O4) results in unusual synergistic effects via destruction of the bulk mesoporous structure and formation of slit-like pores. The Fe-mCo3O4 composite displayed a significantly enhanced catalytic activity for oxygen evolution.
