BACKGROUND Healthcare providers sometimes receive multiple continuity of care documents (CCDs) for a single patient encompassing the patient's various encounters and medical history recorded in different information systems. It is cumbersome for providers to explore different pages of CCDs to find specific data which can be duplicated or even conflicted. This study describes initial steps towar...

gastrointestinal duplications are rare congenital malformations and they may vary greatly in presentation, size, location and symptoms. the presence of ectopic gastric mucosa (egm) in them is not common and they are difficult to diagnose prior to surgery. we present the case of a child with long intestinal duplication with ectopic gastric mucosa who presented with just severe anaemia and delaye...

A child is described with a de novo direct duplication of the region 2q11 X 2 leads to 2q14 X 2. She probably represents the first reported case of proximal 2q duplication. The abnormalities included short stature, microcephaly, brachycephaly, depressed nasal bridge, prominent philtrum, congenital glaucoma, and mental retardation.

Accelerator cores in low-power heterogeneous multicore processors have multiple memory modules to enable parallel data access. Recent low-power processors contain address generation units (AGUs) for fast address generation. To reduce the core-area, small functional units such as adders and counters are used in AGUs. Such small functional units make it difficult to implement complex addressing p...

It is well-known that most scheduling problems arising from parallel systems are NP-hard, even under very special assumptions. Thus various suboptimal algorithms, in particular heuristics, were proposed in the literature. Worst-case error bounds are established in this note for heuristics of makespan minimization of parallel computations. Diierent parallel computation models are investigated, i...

In this paper, we define duplication corona, duplication neighborhood corona and duplication edge corona of two graphs. We compute their adjacency spectrum, Laplacian spectrum and signless Laplacian. As an application, our results enable us to construct infinitely many pairs of cospectral graphs and also integral graphs.

Gene duplication leads to paralogy, which complicates the de novo assembly of genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) data. The issue of paralogous genes is exacerbated in plants, because they are particularly prone to gene duplication events. Paralogs are normally filtered from GBS data before undertaking population genomics or phylogenetic analyses. However, gene duplication plays an important role in...

Where do new genes come from? For a long time the answer to that question has simply been ‘‘from other genes’’. The most prolific source of new loci in eukaryotic genomes is gene duplication in all its guises: exon shuffling, tandem duplication, retrocopying, segmental duplication, and genome duplication. However, in recent years there has been a growing appreciation of the oft-dismissed possib...
