We report the genome sequence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis INS-MDR from Peru, a multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and Latin American-Mediterranean (LAM) lineage strain. Our analysis showed mutations related to drug resistance in the rpoB (D516V), katG (S315T), kasA (G269S), and pncA (Q10R) genes. Our evidence suggests that INS-MDR may be a clonal expansion related to the African strain...

embB306 mutants were detected in both ethambutol (EMB)-resistant and EMB-susceptible strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains had a higher proportion of embB306 mutants than non-MDR strains (odds ratio, 6.78; P < 0.001). The embB306 locus is a candidate marker for rapid detection of MDR and extremely drug resistant tuberculosis.

Abstract Background and objectives: Identification and monitoring of multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains (MDR) is highlighted by the high risk of their spreading in different areas. Prevalence of these strains was evaluated in Golestan province in northeast of Iran. Material and Methods: Drug susceptibility testing to Isoniazid and rifampin was carried out for 148 clinical sa...

Abstract Background and objectives: With almost nine million new cases each year, tuberculosis is still one of the most Life-threatening diseases in the World. Distribution of drug resistant strains of M.tuberculosis has a lot of importance. This research was carried out to determine the frequency of drug resistance of M. tuberculosis in strains isolated in Golestan province. Material and...

Multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis is an important medical and public health challenge, affl icting an estimated 500 000 new patients each year. Recent progress in the development of new molecular diagnostic techniques and the fi rst new antituberculosis drug registration in almost 40 years provide reasons for optimism, but still, globally, less than 10% of individuals with MDR-tuberculosis...

BACKGROUND There is a lack of information on the clinical characteristics of multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis (TB) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) TB in the Jiangxi Province of China; furthermore, data have not been reported on the utility of mycobacterial interspersed repetitive-unit-variable-number tandem-repeat (MIRU-VNTR) analyses in genotyping Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains ...

BACKGROUND Multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis infections cause public health concerns worldwide. Local epidemiologic data about the drug resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolate (Mtb) is critical to guide appropriate empirical therapy to cure patients and restrain the spread of tuberculosis. METHODS Antituberculosis susceptibility testing was performed for...

We read with interest the report by White and Moore-Gillon on the resource implications of multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDRTB) in the UK. We studied the outcome of 44 HIV negative patients with MDR-TB admitted to two tertiary care tuberculosis units in the Netherlands between 1985 and 1998. 3 Most (38 patients) had pulmonary tuberculosis. The mean admission period was 164 days and all pati...

Tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacterium (MT). MT usually attacks the lungs and causes pulmonary-tuberculosis. cases in Indonesia keep increasing over years. The presence of Multidrug-Resistant (MDR-TB) has been one main obstacles eradicating tuberculosis because it couldn’t be cured using standard drugs. In fact, success rate MDR-TB treatment 2019 at global level was only 57 percent. Research o...
