Data Quality has many dimensions one of which is accuracy. Accuracy is usually compromised by errors accidentally or intensionally introduced in a database system. These errors result in inconsistent, incomplete, or erroneous data elements. For example, a small variation in the representation of a data object, produces a unique instantiation of the object being represented. In order to improve ...

In this paper, we propose a grouping-based method to solve the stereo matching problem. We employ intensity segments on scan lines of stereo images as primitives for matching, and formulate the problem by introducing a multistage grouping process of the intensity segments. A relation between a matching pair of intensity segments and some constraints are established.

Process model matching refers to the automatic identification of corresponding activities between two process models. It represents the basis for many advanced process model analysis techniques such as the identification of similar process parts or process model search. A central problem is how to evaluate the performance of process model matching techniques. Often, not even humans can agree on...

Let P be a graph property which is preserved by removal of edges, and consider the random graph process that starts with the empty n-vertex graph and then adds edges one-by-one, each chosen uniformly at random subject to the constraint that P is not violated. These types of random processes have been the subject of extensive research over the last 20 years, having striking applications in extre...

Business process models are increasingly used by companies, often yielding repositories of several thousand models. These models are of great value for business analysis such as service identification or process standardization. A problem is though that many of these analyses require the pairwise comparison of process models, which is hardly feasible to do manually given an extensive number of ...

Organizations increasingly determine process models to support documentation and redesign of workflows. In various situations correspondences between activities of different process models have to be found. The challenge is to find a similarity measure to identify similar activities in different process models. Current matching techniques predominantly consider lexical matching based on a compa...

Process model matching refers to the task of creating correspondences among activities of different process models. This task is crucial whenever comparison and alignment of process models are called for. In recent years, there have been a few attempts to tackle process model matching. Yet, evaluating the obtained sets of correspondences reveals high variability in the results. Addressing this ...

Organizations create collections of hundreds or even thousands of business process models to describe their operations. This chapter explains how graphs can be used as underlying formalism to develop techniques for managing such collections. To this end it defines the business process graph formalism. On this formalism it defines techniques for determining similarity of business process graphs....
