We show genetic improvement of programs (GIP) can scale by evolving increased performance in a widely-used and highly complex 50 000 line system. GISMOE found code that is 70 times faster (on average) and yet is at least as good functionally. Indeed it even gives a small semantic gain.

Aquaculture in developing countries is largely based on unimproved fish strains. There is ample evidence indicating the potential of genetic improvement programs and a range of selection methods may be used. Examples of the application of mass, cohort, within family, and combined between-within family are given. The methods are discussed in terms of their effectiveness and suitability. It is co...

This paper concerns the function S(T ), the argument of the Riemann zeta-function. Improving on the method of Backlund, and taking into account the refinements of Rosser and McCurley it is hereunder proved that for sufficiently large T |S(T )| ≤ 0.1013 log T. Theorem 2 makes the above result explicit, viz. it enables one to select values of a and b such that, for T > T0, |S(T )| ≤ a + b log T.

Engineered T cell therapy (ECT) for oncology has met significant clinical proof of success for chemotherapy resistant B cell malignancies in multiple studies. These data have underscored the transformative potential of ECT in advanced oncology. Adaptimmune specializes in the generation and testing of affinity-enhanced T cell receptors (TCR) for engineered T cell therapy, and has several ongoing...

A common method of constructing f-error correcting/all unidirectional error detecting (t-ECIAUED) codes is to choose a t E C code and then to append a tail such that the new code can detect all unidirectional errors. The tail is a function of the weight of the codeword. We present a technique to reduce the weight distribution of the CEC code so that the tail needed will be shorter in some cases...

The use of Gaussian elimination with backsubstitution for matrix inversion in scattering theories is discussed. Within the framework of the T-matrix method (the state-of-the-art code by Mishchenko is freely available at http://www.giss.nasa.gov/-crmim), it is shown that the domain of applicability of Mishchenko's FORTRAN 77 (F77) code can be substantially expanded in the direction of strongly a...

BACKGROUND The addition of triiodothyronine (T(3)) is one of the most widely studied augmentation strategies for refractory depression. Despite this there are no long term studies or studies of doses above 100 mcg. METHOD Long term and high dose augmentation with T(3) for refractory unipolar major depression was studied. Seventeen patients were assessed for symptom improvement with the Clinic...
